The STEM Alliance is a rapidly growing Westchester County nonprofit that is building a network of STEM learning opportunities for adults and children. Our goal is to empower our clients with STEM skills that not only lead to higher paying jobs but also solve today’s most critical challenges.
We are seeking a Resource Development & Communications Manager to join our team. This manager-level role is instrumental in providing high-level strategic and administrative support to the Chief Communications Officer and Managing Director of Resource Development. This is a unique opportunity to work closely with top leadership to drive strategic initiatives and ensure operational excellence. The ideal candidate will play a key role in advancing the organization’s fundraising, advocacy, and communications strategies. This role focuses on donor relations, fundraising campaigns, event coordination, and data management to ensure strong stakeholder engagement and financial sustainability.
What You'll Be Doing
Fundraising Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement donor segmentation and targeting strategies to enhance fundraising efforts.
- Work closely with leadership to set and achieve annual fundraising goals.
- Track pledges, generate acknowledgement letters and ensure timely communication with donors.
- Support the execution of strategic fundraising campaigns, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities.
- Research and develop grant opportunities, tracking deadlines.
- Ensure all documentation is correctly processed for audit purposes.
- Maintain accurate donor records in donor management systems.
- Track fundraising performance against goals and provide regular progress reports to leadership.
- Use data insights to refine donor outreach and engagement strategies.
Communications Strategy & Planning
- Develop and implement annual communications plan aligned with the organization's strategic goals;
- Identify key strategic audiences and associated messaging
- Work closely with leadership to establish communications goals & KPIs
- Track data and provide regular progress reports to leadership.
- Plan and maintain content calendar; coordinate with relevant deadlines/events
- Write and distribute press releases and manage press inquiries
- Maintain accurate communication’s lists in Constant Contact.
Advocacy Strategy & Planning
- Assist in developing and executing the organization's annual advocacy plan.
- Coordinate efforts to engage stakeholders, policymakers, and community members in advocacy initiatives.
- Track and report on advocacy activities to measure impact and effectiveness.
Events Management
- Oversee event logistics, including planning, execution, and follow-up.
- Manage fundraising and donor engagement events to enhance organizational visibility and donor relations.
- Coordinate with vendors, partners, and internal teams to ensure successful event execution.
- Utilize project management tools such as Asana to track event tasks and ensure timely delivery.
Other duties as Assigned
- Support the overall mission and values of The STEM Alliance by taking on additional tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Strategic & Analytical Thinking: Ability to analyze fundraising and communications performance, track key metrics, and refine strategies based on data insights.
- Organizational Excellence: Exceptional time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize effectively, and maintain keen attention to detail.
- Communication & Relationship Management: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling donor messaging, engage stakeholders, and represent the organization professionally.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong spreadsheet skills and proficiency in Google Workspace. Ability to quickly learn new software systems and leverage CRM tools for donor and communications management.
- Problem-Solving & Initiative: A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to troubleshoot challenges, identify process improvements, and take initiative in a dynamic environment.
- Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to work independently and as part of a team, adapting to evolving priorities while maintaining professionalism and discretion.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, marketing, or a related field. A master’s degree in a relevant discipline is a plus.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising, communications, or donor relations, with a demonstrated track record of success in managing complex projects, stakeholder engagement, and meeting revenue goals.
- Proven experience in a leadership or managerial role, overseeing donor development, communications strategy, and event planning within a nonprofit or similar organization.
- Extensive hands-on experience with donor management systems (e.g., Bloomerang), CRM tools, and data-driven fundraising strategies.
- Demonstrated ability to craft and execute multi-channel communications and fundraising campaigns, including segmentation, storytelling, and donor stewardship.
- Strong background in grant research and writing, with a history of successfully securing funding from foundations, corporations, and government sources.
- Prior experience collaborating with senior leadership to drive strategic initiatives, set and meet key performance metrics, and enhance organizational sustainability.
