What are the responsibilities and job description for the Graduate Research Assistant position at Stephen F. Austin University?
This is a student position responsible for assisting faculty with research activities, including conducting library searches, literature reviews, fieldwork, and/or laboratory experiments, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and preparing reports.
Job Duties1. Conducts research related to project hypotheses and objectives in accordance with research protocol.
2. Assists with various research-related tasks, including conducting literature reviews, developing and administering surveys, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and/or compiling reports.
3. May assist with project design and implementation.
4. May operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
5. May handle, process, and dispense sensitive information of a confidential/proprietary nature.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.
1. Knowledge of, or the ability to learn, research methodologies, principles, and techniques.
2. Ability to communicate professionally and courteously with university faculty and staff, students, and the general public.
3. Ability to understand and follow instructions.
The minimum education required for admittance as a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin State University. The recommendation of a faculty member may be required.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications Physical Demands Special Conditions for EligibilityA student must have clear or provisional admission to the graduate school and the academic unit, be in good academic standing, and be enrolled in six or more credit hours of graduate courses to be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for a graduate assistantship during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more credit hours of graduate courses.
