This is a student position responsible for assisting faculty with research activities, including conducting library searches, literature reviews, fieldwork, and/or laboratory experiments, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and preparing reports.
Job Duties
1. Conducts research related to project hypotheses and objectives in accordance with research protocol.
2. Assists with various research-related tasks, to include conducting literature reviews, developing and administering surveys, collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data, and/or compiling reports.
3. May assist with project design and implementation.
4. May operate and maintain laboratory equipment.
5. May handle, process, and dispense sensitive information of a confidential/proprietary nature.
6. Performs other related duties as assigned.

The minimum education required for admittance as a student at Stephen F. Austin State University.
No direct experience is required. Training and instruction will be provided.
Preferred Qualifications

- An interest in frogs and their behavior in nature.
- Good biological background.
- Knowledge of the ethical treatment of animals.
- Possess current driver’s license.
- Available from February 8 – March 17, 2025, for training and orientation.
- Can work from March 17 – July 15, 2025.
Ability to work under intense field conditions that including working late nights, wading in ponds, encountering snakes, and hiking during hot days in the summer.
Special Conditions for Eligibility
A student must be enrolled in six or more semester hours to be eligible for student employment during the fall or spring semesters. To be eligible for student employment during the summer, a student must be enrolled in three or more semester hours or be registered for courses in the upcoming fall semester.
Student assistants may not hold any other type of position such as a graduate assistantship or temporary casual employment at the same time that they are employed as a student assistant.
