The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College is seeking a Technical Director. This is a full-time, nine-month staff position.

Description
The Conservatory for the Performing Arts at Stephens College is seeking a Technical Director. This is a full-time, nine-month staff position.
Responsibilities
- Planning the safe construction and installation of all theatre systems for each production (scenery, lighting, props, sound, SFX) regarding staffing and student availability.
- Responsible for student learning of "best practices" to maintain safe working conditions while meeting deadlines.
- Supervises and instructs student crews and stage managers daily.
- Responsible for organization, repair, set-up, strike and purchasing of all lighting, sound, scenic and sound related equipment used in the Conservatory.
- Ensures that all production areas meet deadlines.
- Works as a scene shop carpenter on all productions
- Works as a stage technician on all productions in whatever area is required.
- Responsible for all purchases related to theatrical supplies
- Responsible for production calendar, usage of theatrical spaces and daily theatrical work in those spaces including stage(s), scene shop, paint shop, light shop and props storage.
- Responsible for the safe operation of all theatrical equipment and tools by staff and student crews and guest artists.
- Coordinates with performance faculty on the use of theatrical supplies for classes.
- Coordination and management of guest directors and designers in their needs and requirements while working with the Conservatory.
- Coordination with the costume design team on the use of theatre spaces (dressing rooms, onstage changing areas) during the production process.
- Supports costume shop in operational and equipment needs.
- Supports the planning, packing and unpacking of theatrical gear and supplies for summer program(s).
- Supports college events and needs as required.
- Coordinates with College departments and their needs for borrowing props, scenic, and costume items when possible.
- Liaison to the Facilities Department regarding the facility needs of Macklanburg Playhouse (lobby, stage, basement, offices, rehearsal hall, and scene shop) and Warehouse Theatre and Costume Shop.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Fine Arts or related degree
- Three (3) years of relevant experience.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Experience with live theatre
- Skilled carpenter
- Supervisory experience
