Our TerraLam® CLT is scalable, cost-competitive and has the potential to rapidly decarbonize our built environment.
JOB SUMMARY: Sterling Structural is seeking a dynamic and detailed-oriented professional to join our team as an Estimator. This role combines technical expertise in estimating and take-offs with strategic relationship management. The ideal candidate will focus on building and maintaining strong connections with general contractors, architects, engineers, and developers while contributing to accurate project estimating and design support.
ESTIMATING EXPERTISE:
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for Cross Laminated Timber (CLT), Glulam, Structural Steel and connection systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications and budgets.
- Perform comprehensive material take-offs and cost analysis, leveraging software tools and industry best practices, including Excel, Bluebeam and Revit.
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents to identify scope, risks, and opportunities.
- With the support of Sterling’s engineering team, provide value engineering recommendations to optimize project costs and solutions.
- Develop and maintain relationships with general contractors, architects, engineers, and developers, serving as a trusted advisor on mass timber projects.
TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE:
- Possess a foundational understanding of mass timber buildings, building materials, and construction methodologies.
- Stay informed about industry trends, innovations, and competitive activities to provide clients with up-to date insights and solutions.
- Collaborate with internal design and engineering teams to ensure estimates are technically sound and aligned with project goals.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated experience in construction estimating, preferably with mass timber or other structural building materials.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret design and construction documents, and specifications.
- Proficiency in estimating software and tools, such as Bluebeam, Revit, or similar platforms.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build and maintain client relationships.
- Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and mass timber systems is highly desirable.
Additional responsibilities or duties may be assigned to align with the growth and direction of the role and the mass timber market.
