Position Description

Position Title : Utility Manager (Electrical & Plumbing Technician)

Department : Physical Plant

Safety Sensitive Role : Yes

Reports To : Manager / Supervisor of Physical Plant

SUMMARY Under the direction of the Manager / Supervisor of the Physical Plant, responsible for installing and maintain the electric and plumbing at all company locations : SMI, KPP, Masser Farm Realty and Masser / Ballay Enterprises properties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Perform plumbing and electrical work in accordance with assigned tasks and company standards.
  • Conduct routine inspections of facility plumbing and electrical systems, identifying and scheduling required maintenance.
  • Execute plumbing and electrical tasks for company construction projects as needed.
  • Provide plumbing and electrical services for company-owned real estate and rental properties upon request.
  • Maintain accurate records of assignments and generate detailed work reports as required.
  • Assist in maintaining an inventory of necessary supplies, ensuring availability for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Procure materials, parts, and fixtures essential for plumbing and electrical operations.
  • Develop plans and coordinate plumbing activities for new installations and system upgrades.
  • Perform maintenance and service tasks on generators to ensure optimal operation.
  • Operate plumbing and electrical tools and repair equipment safely and efficiently, ensuring all equipment is in proper working order.
  • Identify and report damages, malfunctions, and maintenance-related issues to the supervising manager promptly.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned

Requirements :

Education and Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; vocational training or certification in plumbing, electrical, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in plumbing, electrical, or facilities management.
  • Previous experience managing utilities for industrial, agricultural, or commercial properties is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills

  • Proficient knowledge of plumbing and electrical systems, including maintenance, installation, and troubleshooting.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.
  • Competence with tools, equipment, and machinery specific to plumbing and electrical trades.
  • Leadership and Organizational Skills

  • Strong ability to plan, organize, and execute projects efficiently.
  • Proven experience managing inventory and ordering supplies or parts as needed.
  • Effective time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize.
  • Interpersonal and Communication Skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team collaboration.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other departments, vendors, and contractors.
  • Physical and Environmental Requirements

  • Ability to lift and move heavy equipment and materials (up to 50 lbs) as needed.
  • Willingness to work in various environments, including outdoor settings and around machinery.
  • Availability for on-call work or emergency repairs outside standard hours.
  • Certifications and Licenses

  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record required.
  • Certification in electrical or plumbing trades is a plus.
  • OSHA safety certification or willingness to obtain it preferred.
