Description
Job Goal: The Activities Director/Assistant Principal is an instructional leader whose primary responsibility is to assist in establishing, maintaining, and supporting a positive student growth culture, and oversees athletics and activities at the high school. The Activities Director/Assistant Principal collaborates with building and District staff to implement curriculum and instructional programs that support every student, every day. Leading Professional Learning Communities (PLC’s) is at the core of our work, contributing to the success of all learners.
Qualifications:
Masters degree in educational leadership, curriculum and instruction, or related area.
Currently hold or eligible to hold a Wisconsin DPI certification as a Principal.
Minimum five years of successful experience serving as an educator. High School and leadership experience preferred.
Possess a working knowledge of the WI DPI Educator Effectiveness System, critical thinking process, enhanced student engagement, and an understanding of the Equitable Multi-Level Systems of Support (EMLSS) process.
Possess a demonstrative ability to supervise staff.
Previous coaching experience preferred.
Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.
Demonstrative ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Job Responsibilities:
Assists in the supervision of all school operations, instructional programming, athletics and activities for grades 9-12.
Develops, executes, and monitors the annual School Improvement Plan (SIP) in collaboration with other building administrators.
Leads change and has the ability to influence, motivate and model systems thinking for all staff.
Helps to establish, maintain, and support a positive student growth culture fostering a shared commitment of high expectations for student growth, achievement, and high standards of teaching and learning.
Provides leadership in the areas of Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and other research-based frameworks and strategies.
Collaborates with teachers to examine student and school data to measure student learning and growth, identify achievement & opportunity gaps, and develop strategic interventions that improve learning and close identified gaps.
Facilitates reflective practice, inquiry, and action research to identify and monitor the impact of interventions and determine high-yield instructional strategies that improve student growth.
Observes instruction and provides ongoing feedback and coaching to teachers and other staff supporting professional growth leading to high student growth.
Monitors the daily school schedule and ensures instructional time is maximized.
Administers the program of daily attendance and takes corrective measures for violations of attendance rules and procedures. In coordination with high school administration, administers student discipline and activities code violations.
Maintains a student database for student physicals, information cards, activity code sheets and fees.
Develops co-curricular schedules and maintains a master calendar.
Arranges necessary transportation for extracurricular events.
Sets up activity event supervision with fellow administrators and supervises events.
Assists in the recruiting, screening, hiring, assigning and evaluating of the school’s staff; both certified and support staff, along with coaches, advisors, and officials.
Evaluates coaching staff and extracurricular programming. Responsible for providing professional development of coaching staff.
Participates in administrative team meetings and other such meetings as required or appropriate for successful administration of the school.
Abides by all applicable rules, regulations, policies, and statutes for the position and ensures compliance from coaches, advisors, and all other activities workers.
Build relationships with community partners and youth organizations to promote participation and positivity surrounding athletics and activities.
Oversees the budget for athletics and activities and maintains a system for financial accountability.
Performs other administrative duties as required.
Physical Requirements:
This work regularly requires sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing and occasionally requires pushing, pulling, lifting, and operating machines; work has standard vision requirements; vocal communication is required for expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal spoken word levels and to receive detailed information through oral communications and/or to make fine distinctions in sound; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, and observing general surroundings and activities; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. school offices/ classrooms/ passageways).
