Summary
The Roller Operator is responsible to compact earth, subgrade, and sub-base asphalt surfaces in the construction of highways and streets. Roller Operators drive machines in successive overlapping passes over surfaces to be compacted, rolling asphalt and subgrade to desired compaction and smoothness.
Essential Functions

- Able to operate all size rollers.
- Able to maintain sprayer system.
- Able to break down, seal out and achieve compaction.
- When patching help the crew labor, rake and shovel.
- Be a part of a team.
Competencies
- 2-3 years Asphalt Roller experience.
Work Environment
- The work is regularly performed in outside conditions that include inclement weather, heat and humidity, and exposure to dust, asphalt, fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration.
- Occasional exposure to a variety of extreme and loud conditions at construction job sites.

- Physical demands include but are not limited to lifting heavy objects, walking and standing for long periods of time and performing strenuous physical labor under adverse field conditions.
- Lifts, push, pull or carry objects; use abdominal and lower back muscles to provide support over time without fatigue; and effectively jump, sprint or throw objects.
- Excellent stamina, good manual dexterity (hand, hand with arm, two hands) and multi-limb coordination required.
- Capable of frequently lifting or moving items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lifting or moving items up to 100 pounds.
