Title: Receptionist
Department: Clinic Business Office
Reports To: Sara Holst
General hours of work: Monday- Friday, Business hours
Locations: Gowrie, Lake View, Lake City, and Rockwell City, IA
Status: Full-time

Required Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
Position Summary: Responsible for the routine receptionist duties, including answering multi-line telephone, waiting on customers, as well as general office responsibilities, including routine office processes. Collect and process billing information and patient inquiries. Aids overall functions of the clinic.
Essential Function:
- Maintain established departmental procedures, objectives, quality assurance programs, environmental and infection control standards, and hospital policies including compliance policies.
- Maintain patient documentation and that patient records are treated as confidential information. Adheres to the policies and procedures regarding HIPAA guidelines.
- Communicate with various departments to assure proper service to patient
- Welcome and receive patients.
- Collect and enter billing information from patients and maintain accurate and current account information utilizing resources available to assure proper insurance coverage and coverage details.
- Keep insurance information and daily file maintenance current.
- Answer inquiries regarding accounts or refer to hospital or billing service.
- Collect, receive and post payments from patients and issue receipts and discounts when applicable.
- Reconcile daily cash balance, balance cash drawer, and provide reports of revenue.
- Assist in training of new employees.
- Assist with care and maintenance of department equipment.
- Ensures adequate stock of office supplies.
- Tracks and logs incoming and outgoing drug samples.
- Schedule and maintain all providers appointments through computerized program (EHR).
- Adhere to established rules of scheduling determined by providers and nursing.
- Answer phones, screen calls, takes messages and provides information necessary to return messages.
- Complete necessary referral documents to appropriate facility (faxing clinic notes or testing that has been completed).
- Assist nursing with patient call backs when necessary.
- Make reminder phone calls to patients to ensure provider schedules are up-to-date and access to care is current.
- Receive, sort and distribute mail
- Sort and distribute incoming totes from base clinic.
- Scan documents into patient chart (EHR).
- Responsible for faxing documents to other entities when applicable
- Dispersing patient results provided by nurse
- Compose school/work release/notes by provider recommendations.
- Satisfactorily qualifies for the position through an Iowa Criminal History/Dependent Adult Abuse check within the limits of applicable laws.
