Here's the details:
- Full-time, 40 hours per week
- Clinic hours are Monday-Thursday 8a-5p, Friday 8a-4p
- The Cardiology Clinic is housed within Stillwater Medical Center in our Heart and Vascular Institute.
Schedules new patients, established patients, office visits, and any other scheduling necessary in an efficient, timely and supportive manner using departmental and SMC policies and procedures as guidelines. Uses the telephone, fax, computer software and face-to-face client contact when carrying out the scheduler’s responsibilities. Applies medical knowledge and previous clinical experience when performing the job responsibilities, as well as when raising questions and making critical decisions regarding scheduling requests. Applies initiative to support obtaining, assessing, delivering and/or filing required scheduling documents. Resolves any discrepancies between the verbal encounter request and the written encounter request with the assistance of supervisor or designee. Supports the pre-registration and pre-certification process by obtaining critical, accurate patient demographic and billing information, as well as resolves many of the “quick turn-around” authorizations/verifications required for patients who have been worked into the schedule, as time permits. Keeps the pre-registration staff informed of situations needing attention. Immediately raises potential billing issues to supervisor or designee. Performs the scheduler’s responsibilities in a professional, caring, and compassionate manner when interacting with both internal and external clients.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing

Demonstrates excellent customer service skills

Ability to receive and comprehend and follow verbal and written instruction for office routines and policies

Previous experience in a clinical scheduling environment

Ability to understand insurance benefits and perform basic mathematical tasks

Knowledge of medical terminology is helpful

Understand the ethics of confidentiality

Ability to type at least 40 wpm
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Must have adequate perception of sounds or adequate hearing with corrections.

Adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare reports and read written materials.

Able to work in latex burdened environment

Able to speak clearly and distinctly with staff, physicians, patients, and families

Demonstrates adequate stamina to deal with stressful situations and to complete the necessary work schedule

Demonstrates adequate vision, or correctable with glasses/contacts, to prepare and read documents accurately

Possess fine motor skills and hand/eye coordination to manage office equipment
