Job Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Manager to oversee operations in our Hydraulic Welding Shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing all aspects of the production process, including welding, fabrication, and partnering heavily with assembly, and testing of hydraulic components. This Manager will lead a team, ensuring that safety, quality, and efficiency are maintained while driving continuous improvement across all shops. This role will also be accountable for meeting monthly production and revenue targets, ensuring on-time delivery, and optimizing manufacturing processes to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of skilled welders, fabricators, and operators in the hydraulic welding shop.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement (CI).
- Foster collaboration between cross-functional teams, including engineering, quality control, and maintenance, to achieve goals and meet production targets.
- Promote a high-performance culture with a focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
- Provide regular coaching and performance feedback to team members, encouraging skills development and advancement.
- Ensure appropriate training and certification for all team members.
Production & Operations Management:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the hydraulic welding shop, ensuring that production schedules and customer delivery requirements are met.
- Ensure that hydraulic components and assemblies meet technical specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements.
- Monitor and adjust production schedules to optimize resource utilization, material flow, and machine efficiency.
- Ensure that their team meets production targets and contributes to the achievement of the plant's overall revenue goals.
- Collaborate with the Executive Leadership team to align production with customer demand and inventory requirements.
Process Improvement & Continuous Improvement (CI):
- Analyze operational data to identify opportunities for process improvement and develop action plans to address any issues.
- Implement best practices and innovative solutions to improve throughput, reduce downtime, and minimize defects.
- Use EBS (Enterprise Business System) tools to track performance metrics, identify gaps, and drive improvements in operational KPIs (key performance indicators).
Safety & Quality Assurance:
- Ensure a zero-tolerance safety culture and compliance with OSHA and other safety regulations in the hydraulic welding shop.
- Conduct regular safety audits, risk assessments, and ensure that all employees follow proper safety protocols.
- Monitor adherence to quality standards throughout the production process, ensuring high-quality welded hydraulic components and assemblies.
- Work closely with the Quality Control team to resolve any issues related to weld integrity, component defects, or production defects.
Maintenance & Equipment Management:
- Oversee the maintenance and repair of welding equipment, Robotic welders, and other manufacturing tools to ensure optimal operation.
- Collaborate with the Maintenance team to ensure that equipment is maintained according to schedules (preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance).
- Plan for future equipment needs and oversee the CAPEX planning and execution for the hydraulic welding shop.
Capacity Planning & Forecasting:
- Estimate and address capacity challenges based on production forecasts, ensuring that the plant is adequately equipped to handle future demands.
- Manage production capacity planning, resource allocation, and workforce scheduling to meet current and future customer demands.
Technology & Innovation:
- Identify opportunities for automation and process innovation to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention in the welding and assembly processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
· High school diploma or GED
· 5 Years of Welding experience
· 7 Years of Leadership experience
Experience:
- Minimum 7 years of current experience in metal work, with at least 7 years in a leadership roles
- Proven experience in managing teams, driving continuous improvement, and meeting production and revenue targets.
- Strong understanding of welding processes and metalworking techniques.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing and other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Demonstrated success in managing maintenance and CAPEX projects.
Skills:
- Leadership Skills: Strong leadership qualities with experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and driving a performance-oriented culture.
- Technical Expertise: Knowledge of hydraulic systems, welding techniques (MIG, TIG, Stick welding), and related manufacturing processes.
- Project Management: Ability to manage and execute capital projects, process optimization projects, and improvements on time.
- Manufacturing Technology: Familiarity with Industry 4.0 technologies, such as automation, robotics, and data analytics, to improve manufacturing processes.
- Safety & Compliance: Strong understanding of OSHA regulations and safety best practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Communication & Collaboration: Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Software Skills: Proficient in Microsoft and other project management tools.
