Portfolio Distillery Controller
Join us as Portfolio Distillery Controller and play a key role in shaping the success of Stockwell’s premier craft distilleries. This dynamic position oversees accounting, reporting, and financial planning for our portfolio distilleries, with an initial focus on two distilleries — and the opportunity to grow with our expanding portfolio. From recording transactions and monitoring production costs to driving budgets and ensuring compliance with standards and internal controls, you’ll be at the heart of our mission to scale and elevate the finest craft brands.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities
QuickBooks Management:
- Maintain and manage all aspects of QuickBooks, including accurate and timely data entry for transactions (AP, AR, journal entries, etc.)
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial records within QuickBooks
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other accounts monthly in QuickBooks
- Generate financial reports, including P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all QuickBooks-related processes and troubleshooting
- Continuously improve workflows and processes within QuickBooks to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Manage all cost accounting for inventories, including absorption of Labor and Overhead
Whiskey Systems Management:
- Oversee the setup, maintenance, and operation of Whiskey Systems (inventory management tool)
- Monitor and validate data entries from distillery teams to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Develop and implement internal controls to maintain data integrity and compliance within Whiskey Systems
- Collaborate with distillery teams to optimize inventory tracking and reporting
Payroll & Tax Compliance:
- Oversee payroll processing, approvals, and compliance with applicable laws
- Manage annual tax-related responsibilities, including preparation and submission of 1099s and W-2s
Insurance & Risk Management:
- Coordinate insurance renewals and ensure adequate coverage for distillery operations
Budgeting & Financial Planning:
- Develop, maintain, and oversee budgets for portfolio distilleries
- Prepare budget vs. actual reports, conduct variance analysis, and provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance
Internal Controls & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain and strengthen internal financial controls across entities
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Partner with distillery teams to monitor production costs and purchases and identify areas for improvement
- Provide financial insights to support operational decision-making and strategic initiatives
Additional Responsibilities:
- Assist with financial audits and prepare necessary documentation
- Support ad-hoc financial projects and analysis as required by management
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting; CPA and/or CMA preferred
- 5 years of Controller experience in food & beverage manufacturing; distillery experience preferred
- Understanding of GAAP as applied in a distillery environment
- Knowledge of accounting best practices for a midsized multi-state business
- Familiar with distilling processes, taxation, products and business environment
- Expert proficiency with QuickBooks Online
- Expert proficiency with Microsoft Excel
- Above average proficiency in other Microsoft Office Suite applications (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint)
- Preferred experience with Whiskey Systems
- Strong written communication skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Base Salary: $110,000 - $140,000 (based on location and experience)
- Bonus Potential: 20%

Salary : $110,000 - $140,000
