JOB PURPOSE
To ensure the integrity of accounting information by monitoring spending levels and facilitate timely close-out of grants.
Conduct regular budget review with program staff to effectively manage financial activities of each grant and program to assure that all activities fall within funder and agency guidelines.
Incorporate the maintenance and development of accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Financial Planning and Reporting
-Conduct regular budget review of programs to effectively manage the financial activities of each grant and program to assure that all activities fall within funder and agency guidelines
-Prepare monthly financial statements, variance reports, the agency's annual budget and forecasting processes ensuring financial plan is consistent with the organizations strategic business goals and objectives
-Reconcile and perform grant closeout functions required by contracts administration and sponsors. Perform budget modification as needed.
-Evaluate and determine the feasibility of RFP’s as well as monitor contract performance to the budget
-Collaborate with program staff to forecast budgets and enter the approved budgets into MIP as well as ensure proper allocation of grant related costs
-Compile and analyze accounting records and other data to determine the financial resources required to implement a program
-Prepare ad-hoc reports for budget analysis
-Maintain up-to-date knowledge on agency’s funding sources, grants and contracts, ensure implementation of best practices
-Seek new ways to enhance efficiency, identify areas for improvement and advise on the best course of action with program and support departments
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Required Knowledge
BS/BA in Accounting preferred
Non Profit experience
Knowledge of Head Start and/or DYCD Contracts a plus
Professional Experience 3-5 years.
Strong knowledge of donor-restricted funds
Ability to manage multiple programs and contracts
