What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Chef - Weekend, Part-Time position at Stonewood?
Are you looking to expand your cooking experience and earn some extra money at an exquisite venue? Due to our continuous growth, Stonewood is seeking a part-time Chef Assistant to join our team! This position will work with the Head Chefs in preparing and executing delicious dishes for up to 300-350 guests.
Schedule: This position requires availability to work two weekend-days per month. You will work approximately 4-5 hours the day prior to the wedding/event, and approximately 12pm-8pm the day of the wedding/event.
Pay: $18.00/hour
Responsibilities:
- Support the Head Chef in prep work including chopping and slicing vegetables, measuring ingredients, and checking inventory
- Support the Head Chef in executing wedding menus, following recipes, client requests, and dietary restrictions
- Assist with plating and garnishing of dishes for beautiful presentation
- Provide support during the service to ensure food is served on time and at the appropriate temperature
- Work collaboratively with other kitchen staff, front-of-house teams, and event coordinators to guarantee smooth operations throughout the day
- Follow strict food and safety standards at all times
- Maintain a clean and organized workspace and assist in cleanup duties
- Other duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Previous experience in a kitchen or culinary environment - experience in catering or weddings is a plus
- Passion for cooking and working in the hospitality industry
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, especially during high-pressure events
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented mindset
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of food safety practices and kitchen hygiene
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time (4-8 hours)
- Ability to bend, twist, reach, lift and carry heavy kitchen equipment or ingredients up to 50 pounds
