What are the responsibilities and job description for the Retreat Coordinator position at Stoney Creek Ranch?
Stoney Creek Ranch is a 200 acre youth camp and retreat center located in New Ulm, TX in between San Antonio and Austin. We run one of the largest urban youth summer camps in Texas as well as a fully booked Spring and Fall retreat season. The ranch contains 3 lakes, two pools, water activities, a high ropes course, land zipline, climbing wall, and many other outdoor activities for guests and campers to enjoy!
We are currently hiring a Retreat Coordinator which is a salaried, full-time position. This position requires flexible scheduling and irregular hours (specifically working 2-3 weekends per month). During busier months the Retreat Coordinator will rotate with other staff members for days off. While not required, there is an option to stay on-site when working, and meals are included when camp is in operation.
The Retreat Coordinator is responsible for managing retreats that occur at Stoney Creek Ranch including pre-retreat communication/planning and being the day-of point of contact coordinating guests experience. A normal day would involve the following: handling arrival/greeting on arrival day, coordinating meal service and times with the kitchen team, supervising activity times, receiving and disseminating any maintenance problems, addressing guests requests, and supervising clean up on closing day. The most important responsibility is ensuring all guests and their group leaders have a positive experience. Leadership and management skills, communication skills, and coordination are vital. The Retreat Coordinator's schedule varies between administrative days in an office planning upcoming events and on the ground days running events. Retreat days can be long and fast paced and require a lot of standing / moving between various locations.
The ideal candidate has leadership skills and excellent customer service and communication skills. Ideally the candidate has worked in either the camp industry, hospitality (hotel, restaurant, recreation, etc) or in event planning at some level. Irregular hours and schedules are required although planned in advance. This position will rotate with other staff as the primary coordinator for different events and swap between planning days and days running those events. Salary is flexible and will be entirely based on past experience, skills, and demonstrated potential. This position can be entry level if the candidate can demonstrate leadership, communication, and event planning skills and the ability to grow into the role. Ideal candidate is able to become Lifeguard and/or Ropes Facilitator certified but not 100% required.
Please send in a resume that includes your education history, job history, other involvements, and any past or present certifications, and any other information about yourself. Thanks!
