What are the responsibilities and job description for the Work-Based Learning Coordinator position at Strategic Twin-Counties Education Partnership?

The Work-Based Learning (WBL) Coordinator’s primary role is to serve as a third-party intermediary for local employers and educational ecosystem. The Liaison will collaborate with all our regional education partners to ensure successful placement of paid interns, pre-apprentices and apprentices to ensure alignment with candidates as well as employer needs/desires. STEP serves as the WBL hub for the Twin-Counties.

Specifically, the WBL Coordinator’s objectives are to:

  • Collaborate with WBL Liaison with support and resources for companies who wish to register as a certified apprenticeship program through ApprenticeshipNC and/or develop a paid internship program to build their talent pipeline.
  • Provide support to employer partners and facilitate the Apprenticeship NC process.
  • Provide support in administration of arranging worksite visits, ongoing monitoring during the work experience, and follow-up placement visits, including the recruitment and interview process for on-the-job training experience placements.
  • Work closely with CTE Directors, counselors(s), CTE program instructors, other CTE related specialty teachers, and staff in the planning, development, and evaluation of the program to ensure that decisions are made with equity and inclusion in mind.
  • Monitor students in work, internship, apprenticeship, and volunteer experiences to assess/evaluate their skill development, provide support, and track appropriateness of workplace conditions.
  • Administer the ‘student support’ component of WBL and details relating to marketing strategies and management of funds in the production of such marketing efforts.
  • Compile and report on program outcomes and project metrics as directed by the Local Workforce Development Board.
  • Cultivate and sustain relationships with other WBL Coordinators, educators, and student participants throughout the Twin-Counties.
  • Coordinate career awareness activities for student participants’ career exposures, such as guest speaker sessions, job shadowing, mock interviews, field trips, mentorship programs, and company tours.
  • Organize Employer in the Foyer events, driven by industry demand of partners, at each high school.
  • Arrange and oversee the execution, including liaising with needed engineers of “Lunch with an Engineer” events throughout the twin counties at each of the high schools.
  • Liaise with NCPS and ECPS on the execution of the following events (including venue and production logistics): Manufacturing Day, Brick City Engineer Challenge, STEM Design Challenge, Invention Convention.

Skills and Abilities

  • Possess the ability to identify and lead efforts to address sectors and occupations that align to

economic development strategies.

  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to plan and lead meetings.
  • Must also have the ability to plan and organize work efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Proficient with MS Office along with basic computer skills.
  • Interact professionally and courteously with other employees, customers and partners.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $53,000.00 - $57,000.00 per year
