Make a SPLASH at the SJCC! We're looking for fun and enthusiastic people to teach Water Aerobics in our heated indoor, year-round pool! As a Water Aerobics Instructor, you are responsible for creating an inviting, engaging, and energetic water exercise experience for SJCC Patrons.
We are particularly in need of an instructor from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, and/or Friday.

Physical Demands: To perform the job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, walk, swim, paddle, and stand. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, climb, balance, kneel, bend, crouch, crawl, and reach with hands and arms. The employee is regularly required to lift, push, and/or pull persons or equipment over 100 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
Environmental Conditions: The work is frequently performed around or in a pool facility, with a moderate noise level. Surfaces are frequently slippery and wet.

Some of the duties and responsibilities of a Water Aerobics Instructor are to:
- Teach scheduled classes, beginning, and ending on time; provides adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching and cool down.
- Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explains proper techniques, demonstrates, exercises; identifies different muscle groups, and teaches appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.
- Prepare appropriate equipment and music for each class.
- Ensure that safety standards are met
- Can work independently.
- Follow and enforce all pool standards and rules.
- Work a variety of shifts.
- Substitute for coworkers as needed.
- Support the emotional and social wellbeing of participants through positive behavior management and supportive interactions.
- Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC.
- Must be 18 years of age at the time of application.
To be successful as a Water Aerobics Instructor, you should have:
- 2 year’s experience as a group fitness instructor.
- Current CPR/AED Certification (Adult and Pediatric), or willing to complete course by required deadline(s).
- Ability to swim and lead a group in cardio and resistance exercises.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of relevant safety practices.
- Ability to coach and empower swim students.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with colleagues and SJCC guests.
- Ability to work effectively independently and in a team setting.
- Ability to exercise good judgment.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and respectfully with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of relevant safety practices.
- Ability to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with colleagues and SJCC guests.

- Satisfactorily pass a criminal background check.
- Up-to-date with COVID-19 vaccinations, as defined by King County Public

- Washington State Pay Range: $45/hour - $50/hour
- Actual compensation within the pay range will be decided based on factors including but not limited to, skills, relevant experience, and specific work location.
