Essential Functions
The Vice President of Human Resources (HR) is responsible for developing and executing human resource strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization, specifically in the areas of succession planning, talent management, change management, organizational and performance management, training and development, and compensation. They provide executive-level leadership and guidance to the organization's HR, Administrative, and other support service operations. The Vice President is responsible for setting, enforcing, and evaluating legally compliant human resources policies, procedures, and best practices, and identifying and implementing long-range strategic talent management goals. They also ensure compensation and benefits, payroll administration, benefit plan administration, and all personnel and benefits related audit and compliance requirements are handled.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with executive leadership to define the organization's long-term mission and goals; identifies ways to support this mission through talent management
- Develop and execute HR strategies in alignment with organizational goals and objectives
- Advise the executive team on human resources implications of business strategies
- Provide guidance and management coaching across the organization. With a focus on fostering leadership excellence, leverage their experience to mentor and empower teams, ensuring a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
- Oversee the recruitment process, ensuring the organization attracts and retains top talent
- Lead succession planning
- Develop and implement employee training and development programs, including managing talent pipelines for critical roles
- Researches, develops, and implements competitive compensation, benefits, performance appraisal, and employee incentive programs
- Provides guidance and leadership to the human resource management team; assists with resolution of human resource, compensation, and benefits questions, concerns, and issues
- Provide leadership and direction for administrative and corporate support services, ensuring efficient operations that meet business needs
- Lead and coordinate corporate support functions, collaborating across the organization to optimize cross-functional support meets corporate goals and mission requirements. This includes managing the development and execution of corporate events, PR-related functions, and community engagement and service activities.
- Drive initiatives to enhance collaboration and communication across the organization
- Drafts and implements the organization's Human Resources and support budget
- Leverage technology for improved HR efficiency; oversee implementation and optimization of HRIS and other HR technology solutions
- Analyze factors affecting employee morale, and develop strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction
- Stay abreast of employment laws, regulations, and best practices in employment law, human resources, and talent management and ensure legal compliance of HR policies and procedures
- Participates in professional development and networking conferences and events Other duties as assigned
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains department staff
- Oversees the daily workflow of the Human Resources Department, including Human Resources, Administrative, and other assigned support staff
- Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
- Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field required, master's or law degree highly preferred
- At least ten years of progressive human resource management experience; must include experience in strategic leadership, talent management, employee relations, and professional services recruiting
- Human Resources certification - SPHR (HRCI) or SHRM-SCP (SHRM)
- Exceptional leader with superb interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
- Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations
- Knowledge of and experience with varied human resource information systems
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to quickly adapt to new systems typical of a fast-growing organization
- Travel requirement occasional - estimate 5-10%
- U. S. Citizen with the ability to pass an extensive background check
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times
