Estimator – Large-Scale Agriculture & Livestock Construction
Advance Your Career in Ag-Commercial Innovation

Are you ready to elevate your estimating career in a dynamic and growing sector? We’re looking for an experienced Estimator with a solid background in large-scale agriculture, livestock production, and commercial construction. Join our team and take ownership of meaningful projects that shape the future of feedlots, dairies, hog barns, poultry facilities, and more—all while expanding your skills and growing professionally.

In this pivotal role, you'll not only be responsible for accurate cost forecasting, bid management, and material take-offs, but you’ll also play a key part in driving innovation and cost efficiency in agricultural infrastructure. This is an opportunity to develop expertise in a specialized field while making a measurable impact on the success of each project and the communities we serve.

What You’ll Do to Grow

1. Engage in Project Design & Scope Development

  • Collaborate with the Preconstruction Manager (PCM) to review plans and contribute to early-stage decision-making.
  • Expand your technical understanding by addressing livestock-specific needs like climate control, biosecurity, and environmental compliance.
  • Grow your critical thinking by navigating site-specific challenges—from drainage to animal welfare requirements.

2. Hone Your Estimating & Analytical Skills

  • Interpret blueprints, specs, and engineering data to develop detailed cost estimates for agricultural infrastructure.
  • Gain deep insight into vendor and trade pricing trends, helping you optimize budgets without compromising quality.
  • Strengthen your financial analysis skills by performing cost trend reviews and identifying savings opportunities.

3. Lead Procurement & Bid Coordination

  • Manage RFQs, evaluate bids, and align material take-offs with project goals.
  • Build relationships with trade partners and vendors, enhancing your professional network in the Ag-Commercial industry.
  • Work closely with project teams to transition estimates into actionable construction plans.

4. Participate in Project Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Grow your field experience with site visits and real-world condition assessments.
  • Play a key role in cost adjustments, change order pricing, and lessons learned reviews.
  • Contribute to improving internal processes and cost-tracking strategies across future builds.

5. Take Ownership of Full-Cycle Estimating

  • Manage estimates from concept to contract for dairy operations, poultry houses, manure systems, and more.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends by attending construction workshops and exploring new technologies in livestock facility construction.
  • Position yourself for leadership roles by consistently delivering value, accuracy, and insight.

Who You Are

You’re a self-starter who sees every estimate as a chance to learn, lead, and leave a mark. You’re confident in your ability to manage multiple projects while staying detail-oriented, deadline-driven, and client-focused.

Ideal Traits & Experience:

  • Proven success in large-scale ag/livestock estimating (dairy barns, hog/poultry facilities, manure management systems, etc.)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Skilled in construction cost analysis, bid preparation, and budget forecasting
  • Eager to take initiative, solve problems, and grow professionally in a specialized field

Working Environment & Flexibility

  • Position may be remote or based in Columbus, Nebraska
  • Travel to job sites may be required—expect hands-on learning in real agricultural environments
  • Balance between office-based estimating and onsite project evaluation for a comprehensive experience

What You’ll Gain

  • Direct involvement in impactful Ag-Commercial construction projects
  • Ongoing opportunities for professional development and leadership growth
  • A clear path to advancing your career in a specialized, high-demand industry
  • Mentorship, support, and a team that values your input and celebrates your growth
