Summit Skilled Solutions is hiring an experienced Substation Breaker Technician for a Direct Hire position starting day one directly with the contractor. In this position you would be responsible for inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing medium to high voltage breakers within electrical substations. This role is crucial to ensuring the reliable operation of the breaker systems, contributing directly to the safety and functionality of the electrical infrastructure.
Substation Breaker Technician Qualifications
- Vocational or technical certification in electrical systems or a related field is preferred.
- Strong understanding of medium to high voltage electrical systems and components.
- Proficient in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing electrical breaker issues.
- Keen attention to detail with a focus on quality and safety.
- Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and safety regulations.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
Substation Breaker Technician Job Scope
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on medium to high voltage breakers.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve electrical issues in substation breaker systems.
- Perform repairs, component replacements, and upgrades on breakers as needed.
- Adhere strictly to safety protocols and regulatory compliance guidelines.
- Maintain accurate documentation and reports of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Collaborate with other technicians and engineers to optimize maintenance strategies and safety practices.
Substation Breaker Technician Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in medium to high voltage breaker maintenance and repair.
- Hands-on experience with substation equipment and familiarity with industry safety practices.
- NETA certification or similar industry-recognized certification is a plus.
- Occasional travel may be required for project needs, training, or emergency repair work.
Substation Breaker Technician Compensation/Benefits
- $35-$48/hr based on experience
- 40-50 hour work week M-F
