Machine Operator

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Machine Operator to operate skid steers and mini excavators on residential and commercial construction sites. The ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of foundations, footers, and site preparation, with a commitment to job site safety and quality work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate skid steers and mini excavators for various tasks including trenching, grading, and backfilling
• Excavate and prepare sites for footers and foundations with precision
• Assist with layout and measurements according to site plans
• Load/unload and move materials as required
• Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of machines
• Ensure compliance with safety standards and project specifications
• Communicate with foremen and crew to coordinate equipment usage
• Maintain clean equipment and a safe, organized job site

Requirements:

• Proven experience operating skid steers and mini excavators
• Knowledge and experience with foundation and footer excavation
• Ability to read and understand construction plans or grade stakes
• Basic mechanical skills for daily equipment maintenance
• Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license (CDL is a plus)
• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in foundation work, concrete prep, or residential construction
• Familiarity with laser levels, transit, or GPS equipment for grade setting
• Ability to operate additional machinery is a plus (e.g., backhoes, loaders)

Work Environment:

• Outdoor job sites with varying terrain and weather
• Requires physical activity such as lifting, standing, bending, and kneeling
• Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 50 per week

Schedule:

• Overtime
