What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tennis Instructor position at Sun Valley Resort?
The Sun Valley Tennis Center has summer openings for Tennis Instructors. Our Instructors will help promote, teach, and coordinate adult in-house leagues and tennis socials. They will also provide group and individual tennis lessons. Full-time or part-time positions are available. Compensation is dependent on experience.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provides group and individual tennis lessons as assigned by Tennis Professional
- Help promote, teach, and coordinate adult in-house leagues and tennis socials
- Communicate with the Head Tennis Professional to schedule and publicize club tennis events
- Assists with special tennis events and tournaments
- Administrative work includes purchasing trophies for special events, recording court reservations and lesson appointments, answering the phone in the Pro Shop, and invoicing member purchases
- Supervises other tennis staff, including Tennis Shop salespersons, adult mixers, and other events
- Occasionally writes tennis articles for the club newsletter and website
- Manages inventory of Tennis Shop; interacts with purchase personnel to acquire merchandise for resale
- Assists the Tennis Professional and completes other appropriate tasks assigned by the Tennis Professional
- Other duties may be assigned
Qualifications:
- An undergraduate major in Physical Education or Sports Management is desirable
- Collegiate or High School team experience is desirable, preferably with a 4.5 or above rating
- Two to three years of competitive playing experience and/or tennis supervisory experience
- Experience running or teaching junior development programs
- Knowledge of court maintenance
- Able to promote and teach private and group lessons to juniors and adults
- Has represented a tennis club in its respective Pro-Am Tournament
- Ability to re-string, re-grip, and repair rackets, or desire to learn
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays
- Engage in physical activities like standing for long periods, walking, and utilizing hands for tasks that involve gripping, handling, poking, and reaching
- Can safely lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
