Director of Plant Operations

Position Summary:

SUNY Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located ninety miles north of New York City in the Catskill Mountains, is currently accepting applications for a Director of Plant Operations.

The Director of Plant Operations is responsible for the protection, preservation and maintenance of campus facilities; management and planning of departmental activities; preparation of department budget; and supervision of departmental personnel and programs. The Director reports to the Dean of Operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Establish hours for maintenance, housekeeping, and shipping and receiving staff
• Approve all leave requests and comp/overtime needs in accordance with College policies
• Prepare annual budget identifying staffing and other needs
• Assist the Dean of Operations with the development of the annual Capital Improvement Plan.
• Coordinate maintenance and housekeeping activities
• Maintain control over College property
• Develop intermediate and long-term programs and staffing needs, including contingency plans for financial curtailments, to preserve and improve the campus facilities
• Work with Public Safety and Campus Community to preserve and ensure a place of personal safety for the College community
• Evaluate staff and make recommendations for promotion
• Implement appropriate collective bargaining agreements
• Perform such other related duties as may be assigned by the Dean
  
  

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associates degree
• Knowledge of basic building and grounds maintenance
• Past evidence of supervisory ability, and
• A demonstrated history of professional and personal integrity

• Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests
  
  

Salary:

An initial starting salary of $73,900 will be commensurate with education, training, and experience per academic year with an excellent benefits package. This position is contingent upon adequate funding.
