What are the responsibilities and job description for the Legal Assistant/Paralegal position at Suri Law?
Summary: Suri Law is a looking for a legal assistant or a paralegal to join our growing team. This legal assistant/paralegal will work directly with the firm's principal attorney and of counsel. We have immediate openings for a highly motivated individual who has strong organizational and communications skills.
This position will be 0-15 hours a week and has potential for increased hours, an increased hourly rate, and/or to turn into a full time position (with expanded responsibilities) in the future. This position primarily entails remote work. Payment will be commensurate with experience.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's Degree;
- Positive attitude;
- Excellent organizational and time management skills;
- Detail oriented;
- Adaptability and willingness to learn;
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills;
- Types at least 50 words per minute (ideally types around 65-75 wpm);
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Ability to take ownership of work as an individual and to work as a part of team;
- Mastery of Microsoft Office & Google Suite products;
- Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat;
- Experience with legal technology such a practice management software (preferred);
- Fluent in two (2) or more languages (preferred);
- Paralegal certification (preferred); and
- General business and/or legal knowledge and/or experience (preferred).
Responsibilities:
- Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, managing schedules, filing, scanning, faxing, and mailing.
- Assist with management of the firm's ongoing matters including litigation and transactions;
- Draft documents;
- Investigate facts;
- Organize and prepare legal files for use in transactions and trials;
- Correspond with with vendors and experts;
- Assist with establishing workflow process for legal matters based on patterns of handling;
- Provide general administrative support to by, for example: (1) taking notes on meetings, (2) following up with colleagues on outstanding tasks, (3) managing relationships and communications with clients and outside attorneys, and (4) regularly communicating with colleagues and firm principal;
- Coordinate with attorneys and other staff at the firm;
- Attend firm meetings, client meetings, client events, and firm events;
- Conduct client intakes calls;
- Conduct yourself with professionalism and integrity; and
- Perform other related tasks and assignments as required.

Pay: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
