Job Description:
SyberJet Aircraft is seeking an experienced Lead Aircraft Systems Bench & Integration Engineer to oversee the design, development, and integration of test benches and rigs supporting avionics and aircraft systems. This role involves leading the development of Iron Bird testbeds, avionics systems benches, flight simulators, and support aircraft testing infrastructure to ensure comprehensive system integration, verification, and validation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and avionics systems integration, with hands-on experience in data acquisition, fabrication, and test execution. This role is critical to supporting certification, reliability, and performance testing for SyberJet’s aircraft programs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and integrate test benches for avionics, electrical, and mechanical subsystems.
- Lead the setup and operation of Iron Bird testbeds to validate flight control, avionics, and aircraft system integration.
- Develop and manage avionics systems benches to support hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) and software-in-the-loop (SIL) testing.
- Support the development of flight simulators for avionics software and hardware validation.
- Execute and oversee system bench testing, ensuring compliance with FAA, DO-160, and ARP4754A standards.
- Implement full-vehicle data acquisition and instrumentation strategies, working with engineering teams to ensure accurate and reliable test results.
- Work cross-functionally with systems engineering, avionics, software, flight test, and certification teams to ensure test infrastructure meets program needs.
- Create test plans, procedures, and reports to document system performance, validation results, and compliance requirements.
- Identify and mitigate potential risks related to test schedules, budgets, and technical requirements.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for mechanical, electrical, and software-related integration challenges.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field.
- Experience:
- 10 years of experience in test bench development, avionics systems integration, and test rig design.
- Expertise in systems integration, data acquisition, and avionics test environments.
- Hands-on experience in mechanical/electrical fabrication, integration, and testing.
- Strong understanding of ARINC communication protocols and CAN bus systems for avionics integration.
- Preferred Experience:
- Proficiency in Siemens NX for CAD modeling and test rig design.
- Knowledge of FAA regulations, DO-160, ARP4754A, and aircraft certification standards.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
- Communication: Ability to balance office-based planning with hands-on field execution.
- Team Player: Ability to obtain necessary security clearances if required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in Iron Bird testbed development and avionics systems testing.
