Job Description for Project Executive: Work directly for a multinational company specializing in building automation, HVAC systems, and security solutions. Remote work with a primary work/client locations in NYC.
Summary:
- Supports sales and engineering teams with project delivery, estimating, and financial management
- Manages assigned projects within the local geography as directed by the AGM
- Determines resource levels to meet schedule milestones and monitors workforce levels for plan adherence
- Controls scope changes, ensuring proper documentation and approval before work begins
- Assists in implementing site safety, security procedures, and project work rules
- Contributes to the development of the project execution plan
- Collaborates with Sales and Engineering teams to secure customer-facing contracts
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with customers and subcontractors
External Relationship:
Industry & Community Engagement:
- Actively involved in the local contracting community and industry organizations
- Networks with local subcontractors
- Maintains high customer satisfaction during sales and execution phases
Internal Collaboration & Market Leadership:
- Works collaboratively with the Area Team to establish and maintain local market dominance
- Assists the Area Installation Manager in planning for future resource needs and allocating resources for near-term commitments
Resource & Project Execution Management:
- Assesses development needs and collaborates with the Area Installation Manager to assign Construction Managers for sales support activities
- Ensures input on vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment
- Assesses project execution needs and assigns Construction Managers to area projects
Financial Planning & Reporting:
- Assists the Area General Manager in preparing the annual financial operating plan for the projects business
- Supports the Area General Manager in achieving fiscal year plans
- Assists in monthly financial reporting of the Area
Responsibilities/Duties:
Sales & Vendor Selection:
- Self-performs sales support activities early in the audit process
- Provides input on vendor/partner selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, and risk assessment
Project Management & Execution:
- Self-performs cost estimating, project scheduling, and construction management for secured projects
- Manages the profitable execution of the Area team's project portfolio
- Ensures projects are completed accurately, on time, within budget, and within contract scope
- Maintains profitability goals and ensures positive cash flow
Resource & Team Management:
- Understands project scope and customer expectations
- Utilizes resource planning techniques to optimize team productivity
- Determines resource needs and duration of resource assignments from the Area resource pool
- Ensures Construction Managers develop and adhere to a Project Execution Plan/Safety Plan
Financial & Operational Oversight:
- Provides monthly reporting on Area team's financial status
- Participates in the Area General Manager's monthly operations reviews
- Provides monthly revenue, cost, and gross margin forecasts
Customer & Contractor Relations:
- Establishes long-term customer and contractor relationships
- Influences customers and maintains strong client touchpoints throughout project lifecycles
- Coaches teams on proactively addressing customer feedback
Compliance & Ethical Standards:
- Ensures compliance with state, local, and federal legal requirements
- Conducts business with the highest ethical standards
Safety & Risk Management:
- Champions and drives the SSA Safety Program for employees and subcontractors
- Ensures safety compliance at all levels within the Installation organization
Internal & External Collaboration:
- Fosters and maintains good working relationships with subcontractors
- Collaborates effectively with internal Systems, Service, and Lighting partners
Strategic Planning & Execution:
- Oversees FIMs, multiple FIMs, and innovative/renewable FIMs
- Plans, schedules, and controls project activities
- Applies expertise in commercial/contractual complexity, financial acumen, negotiation skills, and C-level communication
Measurements:
The Project Executive is responsible for the executed margin for all assigned projects in their portfolio. The following metrics define this responsibility:

Required:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or business, or equivalent work experience
- Ten (10) or more years of progressively responsible operations management experience in the Installation Industry, including:
- Five or more years of direct management experience
- High-level competence in written and verbal communication
- Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences
- Ability to lead and direct cross-functional and cross-business unit project teams to achieve business results
- Ability to lead, manage, mentor, and inspire others
- Knowledge of multiple levels within the supply chain organization
- Polished presentation skills, multi-faceted thinker, and innovator
- Strong ability to negotiate, persuade, and influence
- Proficient in software scheduling tools and applications
- High-level project management process competencies
- Strong proficiency in: MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), Adobe Writer, Visio, MS Project, Basic Microsoft environment and internet business application usage
