Job Summary
This Operations position supervises delivery activities, including management of delivery staff, compliance with government regulations, and safety of the delivery department.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise daily work and safety of Delivery Associates, adhering to standard operating procedures and providing safe customer service.
- Ensure Delivery Associate compliance with local, state, and federal agencies (i.e. DOT, OSHA) and maintain accurate electronic logs.
- Manage labor hours and supplies within budget, preparing work schedules as needed.
- Oversee asset utilization in support of the Delivery department, organizing repairs and reviews.
- Suggest efficiency ideas and assist in implementing delivery changes, enforcing company policies and protocols.
- Communicate with Sales Management and Marketing Associates to resolve customer or delivery issues.
- Meet with customers to address issues and assess delivery difficulty, preserving associate relations through regular meetings.
- Maintain open communication channels with associates, answering questions and explaining policies and procedures.
- Monitor associate morale, submitting ideas to improve engagement and enablement.
- Coordinate efforts with the Safety department for training, observations, and routine safety inspections.
- Makes recommendations for disciplinary action and executes management functions of staff selection, development, discipline, and terminations.
Qualifications:
Education:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 2 or 4-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management preferred.
Experience:
- 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations:
- Complete a Sysco approved defensive driving program.
- HazMat certification preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting Company standards preferred.

- Lead discussions and meetings, working with peers and associates from other departments.
- Solve practical problems and deal with variables in situations with limited standardization.
- Interpret instructions and apply relevant policies in a timely and objective manner.
- Work in a deadline-oriented atmosphere and manage customer service issues.
- Able to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, professional journals, and technical procedures.
- Write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Presents information and responds to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.
- Exhibit knowledge of spreadsheet software and Word Processing software, and ability to learn Sysco technology software and programs.
- Must have excellent computer skills and be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide units of measure.
Physical Demands:

- Stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and climb or balance frequently.
- Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl, and lift up to 100 pounds, push/pull up to 350 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Working Conditions:
- Exposed to wet, hot, extreme cold, and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and confined spaces.
- Non-traditional business hours including evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and on-call.
- May travel to other Operating Companies or the Corporate office as business needs dictate.
- Periodically exposed to high, precarious places and fumes or airborne particles.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
