Operations Position for Delivery Supervision
Job Summary
This position is responsible for supervising delivery activities, including management of delivery staff, compliance with government regulations, and safety of the delivery department.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily work and safety of delivery associates, ensuring adherence to standard operating procedures and planned routes.
- Maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory agencies, including electronic logs.
- Manage labor hours and consumable supplies within established guidelines.
- Create work schedules, including extra work days and shifts as needed.
- Oversee asset utilization in support of the delivery department.
- Organize repairs with relevant departments as necessary.
- Review delivery functions and productivity reporting.
- Develop efficiency ideas and cost reduction measures, assisting with implementation of delivery changes.
- Enforce company policies, protocols, and procedures, including food safety, DOT, and record keeping.
- Communicate with sales management and marketing associates to resolve customer or delivery issues.
- Visit customer locations to address issues and assess delivery difficulty.
- Promote associate relations through regular meetings and open communication channels.
- Monitor associate morale and submit suggestions for improving engagement.
- Coordinate safety efforts with the Safety department, including training and accident investigations.
- Recommend disciplinary action and/or behavior modification where required.
- Perform management functions, including staff selection, development, discipline, performance reviews, and terminations.
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Preferred: 2 or 4-year college degree in Business Management, Supply Chain Management, or similar major.
Experience
- 1-3 years related experience and/or training.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
- Complete a Sysco-approved defensive driving program.
- HazMat certification preferred.
- Valid Class A Commercial Driver License meeting Company standards preferred.
