Responsibilities
- Provides support to end users for PC or server applications and hardware.Has responsibility for a given workload; within that workload, manages schedule to provide the best, most efficient service possible.Given general guidelines, determines priorities.Provides “after hours” support on a rotation basis.
- Handles problems independently and ensures resolution.
- Interacts with network support, applications support, and / or programming support to restore service and / or identify and correct core problem.Meets with the server team, client team and network team weekly to discuss common issues and share information.Participates in ad hoc teams to discuss and work toward resolution of specific, complicated issues, as needed.
- Analyzes, simulates and / or recreates user problems to resolve operating difficulties.
- Recommends modifications to reduce user problems.
- Maintains currency and high level of technical skill in field of expertise.Independently seeks opportunities to gain further technical knowledge in the field.Provides training to others in areas of expertise.
- Performs technical and administrative work in the installation of new and existing personal computer systems, terminals and associated hardware and software.
- Troubleshoots and replaces hardware as needed.
- Reconfigures equipment.
Qualifications
Education :
Associate’s degree in computer science, math or engineering, or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Experience :
Two to four years of PC and / or network experience preferred.
Skills :
Skills in working in an open system environment and including the following : Windows Operating Systems, Microsoft Office Suite applications, Terminal Emulation software, Internet Browsers, Novell Network, Active Directory, Ethernet, and IBM AS / 400.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Good customer service skills.
Good scheduling / time-management skills.
Good problem-solving skills.
Certifications are a plus
