Manufacturing/Production Group Leader (2nd Shift)

General Summary:

Manufacturing Production Group Leader - Responsible for supporting quality activities through Manufacturing and Production supervision. Responsible for ensuring all key performance indicators (KPI) are met from plant operations including Manufacturing, Quality, Safety and Production functions.

II. Essential Job Function:

A. Manage seat assembly, inspection, and shipping of seats to ensure all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) are met.

B. Plan, organize and direct phases of quality and manufacturing operations which ensure the most effective return on assets and at target performance levels.

C. Determine schedules, sequences, and work assignments based on work priority, quantity of equipment and skill of personnel.

D. Monitor employees’ work levels and review work performance.

E. Counsel team member about work-related issues and assist employees to correct job skill deficiencies.

F. Report progress toward established goals daily, weekly, and monthly.

G. Communicate with other department leaders about Safety, Quality, and Production.

H. Conduct or arrange for worker training in safety, repair, or maintenance techniques, operational procedures, or equipment use.

I. Ensure that proper shift-staffing, production plans, and operating availability (OA) targets are met.

J. Maintain and administer compliance of SAIA’s Rules and Policies.

K. Implement quality improvements for manufacturing strategies and action plans to ensure that the facility supports SAIA’s mission.

III. Qualifications
Education: Minimum of a High School Diploma/GED is required.

Experience: 1 to 3 years of Automotive Manufacturing experience in shipping, quality, production, safety or warehousing is preferred. Knowledge of front and rear processes on the assembly lines is required.

IV. Work Environment

Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

V. Physical Demands

While preforming duties of this job, the Manufacturing Group Leader is required to talk, see, hear, walking and standing. Occasionally lifting of 30 lbs.
