What are the responsibilities and job description for the Landings Enforcement Officer position at Talbot County Government?
Summary:
The Enforcement Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and compliance of public boat landings within Talbot County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Review, issue, and revoke permits required by ordinance or resolution, enforce the terms of Chapter 121 of Talbot County Code, Public Landings for all resolutions, rules and regulations adopted by County Council.
· Assist in the coordination in removal of sunken vessels, vehicles, trailers, materials, and other equipment that interferes with or obstructs County landings.
· Monitors landings for violations of Talbot County code chapter 121, citing/ticketing violators. If citations are not paid, information is sent to the District Court.
· Works closely with the Department of Natural Resources Police in regards of derelict boats. Monitors boats for 30 days, provides proper documentation, photos, and court appearances.
· Performs scheduled inspections of all public landings to ensure public safety. Communicates all deficiencies with Landings Superintendent and performs proper maintenance to repair deficiencies.
· Monitors boat slips to ensure all slips are occupied by the rightful owner. If there are complaints about boats being on the wrong slips; investigates and resolves matters in a timely fashion.
· Attends various meetings, which include Parks and Recreation Advisory Board and County Council presentations on an as needed basis.
· Communicates with community members in regard to concerns on certain landings issues and keeps Superintendent abreast of what the resolutions are and what corrective action can be taken to eliminate the issues from reoccurring.
· Works with various legal agencies such as County Attorney, Sheriff’s Department, and Department of Natural Resources on any violations as well as resolutions.
· Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
· High School or GED
· 2 years’ work in enforcement/security or general maintenance preferred. Marina experience a plus
· Valid Maryland driver’s license
· Great customer service skills.
· Knowledge of rules and regulations pertaining to public landings a plus.
