About the Role:
The Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily function and staffing of the Critical Care Unit (CCU) and Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This includes ensuring high-quality patient-centered care through the implementation of evidence-based practices.
Main Responsibilities:
- Create a superior clinical identity by operationalizing evidence-based practices to enhance patient safety and quality outcomes.
- Ensure adherence to standards of care and support efforts to reduce variation in clinical practice.
- Improve efficiency, effectiveness, and cost by implementing best practices and policies.
- Ensure compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Manage equipment maintenance, admissions, and discharge processes to ensure efficient throughput and high-quality care.
- Facilitate effective interdisciplinary care coordination within and across departments.
- Manage nursing practice and unit operations, monitoring and evaluating the provision of nursing care to ensure patient needs are met.
- Provide leadership in attaining and sustaining an unparalleled patient experience, inspiring commitment to the organization's vision, mission, and values.
- Implement evidence-based employee engagement practices and manage staff scheduling to meet patient care needs.
- Manage operating expenses, identifying cost reduction opportunities and implementing actions to achieve savings.
Requirements:
- 1-2 years of recent acute care ICU leadership experience required.
- Strongly prefer candidates having 3-5 years of staff-level ICU experience on top of their leadership experience.
- Candidates must have ICU experience; CVICU is no longer required.
- Prioritize obtaining necessary certifications and training within specified timeframes, including NIH Stroke Scale, Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
- Hold a minimum of an Associate Degree or Registered Nurse Diploma and be a registered nurse or advance practice registered nurse (APRN).
About the Team:
The team reports to the Director of Critical Care, with direct oversight of 12-bed CVICU, 12-bed PCU, and Telemetry units. The manager has approximately 70-80 direct reports, including Clinical Nurse Coordinators, RNs, and PCTs.
