Job Title: Human Resource Specialist

The General Purpose Of The Position
The Human Resource Specialist will run the daily functions of the Human Resource department of their location including recruiting, hiring, interviewing, onboarding, monitoring training programs, and administering time and attendance for payroll submission. The HR Specialist will work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention while executing the administrative tasks related to payroll processing, compensation, benefits, policies & procedures. The HR Specialist is a department of one who is working very closely with the General Manager. The HR Specialist will need to be confident in their ability to do the job, stay highly organized, maintain impeccable records, and make legally, morally, and ethically sound decisions for their location.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Partners with the management team to understand and execute the organization’s culture and strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning.
- Provides support and guidance to employees and management related to company policies and guidelines.
- Recruits, interviews, and works with management to facilitate the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand the skills and competencies required for openings.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include, but not limited to, safety training, anti-harassment training, certifications, annual employee training, manager training, etc.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and recommends best practices, reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Oversees performance reviews, employee disciplinary meetings, performance improvement plans, terminations, exit interviews, and investigations.
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the support office.
- Handles reporting of work compensation, auto, and liability accidents, and investigations of those claims.
- Maintain accurate employee records for personnel records, benefit records, time keeping, FMLA, LOA, Work Comp, compensation, etc.
- Understand DOT regulations and maintain DOT Driver Files
- Handles annual open enrollment and on going enrollment through out the year for employees.
- Provide guidance and input on location restructures, workforce planning, and succession planning working within the overall company structure.
- Maintain in-depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-today management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
- Conducts effective, thorough, and objective investigations.
- Perform as a leader for your locations safety initiatives, which includes, but is not limited to leading all safety meetings, keeping accurate records of all meetings, training, and OSHA records.
- Performs routine administrative and clerical task related to human resource, benefit enrollment, and payroll submission.
- Prepares periodic reports for management, as necessary or requested, to track strategic goal accomplishments related to Human Resource and Payroll.
- 80% Human Resource and 20% recruiting and payroll.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- 4 year Bachelor Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field or qualified work experience in the field of Human Resources, Business Administration, or Management required
- Must have 3-5 years of current human resources work experience.
- Payroll work experience a plus.
- Valid driver’s license. Motor Vehicle Report must show no more moving violations than are allowed by our Driver’s License Policy.
- SHRM-CP a plus.
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Thorough knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws and adhere to them in all human resource and payroll related functions.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite and related software.
- Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations business and software systems
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management skills with proven ability to meet deadlines and to prioritize.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to guide, correct, coach, & counsel managers, supervisors & employees while maintaining positive relationships.
