A nonprofit organization in New York City is currently seeking a new Spanish-speaking professional to join their staff in Brooklyn as a Case Manager.
About the Opportunity :
Start Date : ASAP
Assignment Length : Ongoing (Contract to Hire)
Schedule : Monday to Friday
Hours : 9am-5pm (3 days per week), 7am-3pm (one early day), 12p-8pm (one late day)
Setting : Domestic Violence Shelter Responsibilities :
The Case Manager will :
Engage residents in initial and ongoing treatment processes, through individual and group counseling
Develop and maintain housing referral resources, assist residents in the process of locating and securing permanent housing
Assist all residents in the process of referral and placement in community based resources
Assess residents' vocational and educational needs, aptitudes and interests through interviews and testing
Develop and maintain placement and follow-up as appropriate after assessment and counseling.
Participate in training seminars conducted to enhance and develop clinical skills with the client population
Attend weekly individual case supervision, group supervision, monthly case conferences, and staff meetings
Develop with the resident, a contract of mutually agreed goals and objectives to be accomplished within an agreed upon timetable
Perform other duties as assigned by the Social Work Supervisor Qualifications :
Bachelor's Degree in a Health and / or Human Services-related field is preferred or Associates Degree with at least 2-3 years relevant experience
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Training and experience in assessing the vocational and educational needs and aptitudes of clients
Thorough familiarity and success with engaging clients experience assisting eligible clients through the process of obtaining Public Assistance, Medicaid and other benefits
Knowledgeable and sensitive to domestic violence issues
Computer savvy
Microsoft Office Application proficiency
Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) Desired Skills :
2 year of Crisis Counseling experience
Experience in a Residential Shelter for victims of Domestic Violence
Experience and demonstrated skills in Group Counseling
