Job Summary:
The Accounting Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day accounting operations for TargetPath, Austere, and other clients as needed. These responsibilities include managing the accounting team, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting strategic financial planning initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong leadership skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare, review, and ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage the month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Assist in the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial planning.
Cash Management:
- Prepare and manage cash forecasts to ensure adequate cash flow.
- Oversee vendor payments and incoming customer payments, ensuring timely processing and collections.
- Manage relationships with banks and other financial institutions
General Ledger and Inventory Management:
- Oversee the maintenance of the general ledger and subledgers, ensuring proper account reconciliation.
- Ensure all transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Review journal entries, accruals, and adjustments as needed.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory levels, identify discrepancies or shortages, and ensure accurate inventory valuation using the FIFO method.
- Assist in physical inventory counts and reconcile results to the general ledger.
Insurance Management:
- Manage insurance renewals, ensuring timely renewal of policies and updating insurance providers with any changes that would affect policy coverage.
- Review policies to ensure appropriate coverage and minimize costs.
- Request and manage Certificates of Insurance as needed.
Compliance & Audits:
- Ensure compliance with internal controls, financial policies, and procedures.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and ensure timely resolution of any audit findings.
- Ensure compliance with tax filings and other regulatory requirements.
Team Leadership:
- Manage and lead the accounting team, including recruitment, training, and performance management.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior accountants and other finance professionals.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, efficiency, and professional development within the team.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for process improvement and implement new procedures to enhance efficiency.
- Automate manual processes and improve systems integration where possible.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Collaborate with other departments (e.g., Finance, HR, Operations) to ensure financial alignment.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to senior management and executive leadership.
- Support business units with ad-hoc financial reports and analysis as needed.
Qualifications:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (Master’s degree or CPA preferred).
- Experience: 5 years of progressive accounting experience, including 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
- Technical Skills:
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel and financial modeling tools.
- Familiarity with GAAP and tax regulations.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience in working with ERP systems.
- Familiarity with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Previous experience in managing multi-entity financial operations (if applicable).
