Job Overview:
The Maintenance Planner plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of manufacturing equipment and systems. This position is responsible for planning, scheduling, and coordinating maintenance activities in the manufacturing facility to minimize downtime and maximize equipment reliability. The Maintenance Planner works closely with maintenance technicians, engineers, and production teams to develop maintenance schedules, track equipment performance, and plan for necessary repairs or upgrades.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain detailed maintenance schedules for all equipment and machinery based on production requirements, manufacturers' recommendations, and preventive maintenance plans.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production schedules to minimize disruptions.
- Ensure that maintenance work orders are planned, including necessary resources, materials, and manpower.
- Track and update the status of work orders, ensuring timely completion of planned maintenance tasks.
- Ensure all maintenance tasks are well-resourced in terms of tools, parts, labor, and equipment.
- Procure necessary materials, spare parts, and equipment for routine and corrective maintenance, while maintaining appropriate inventory levels.
- Work with suppliers and vendors to source parts or services as required for planned maintenance activities.
- Develop and maintain preventive maintenance schedules to ensure machinery and equipment are regularly inspected, lubricated, calibrated, and serviced.
- Analyze historical equipment data to predict potential failures and implement preventive measures to increase equipment longevity and reduce unplanned downtime.
- Assist in identifying root causes of equipment failures or inefficiencies and suggest long-term solutions.
- Support the continuous improvement of maintenance processes, procedures, and equipment reliability through feedback and data analysis.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities, including work orders, labor hours, parts usage, and equipment downtime.
- Analyze maintenance performance data and generate reports on equipment reliability, failure trends, and maintenance effectiveness.
- Report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF), Mean Time to Repair (MTTR), and maintenance cost analysis.
- Ensure that all maintenance activities are performed in accordance with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct safety audits to identify hazards or risks related to maintenance operations and develop mitigation strategies.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations during maintenance activities, especially in areas related to waste disposal, emissions, and hazardous materials.
Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in maintenance or plant operations, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
- Previous experience in maintenance planning or scheduling is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of industrial machinery, equipment maintenance, and mechanical or electrical systems.
- Proficient in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) or other planning software.
- Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance practices.
- Maintenance Planning and Scheduling certification (e.g., from the Society for Maintenance and Reliability Professionals – SMRP).
- Any relevant technical certifications (e.g., Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or reliability-based certifications) are a plus.
