QUALIFICATIONS:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Early Childhood Education or related field
• Experience in preschool or early childhood educational settings, with at least two years in a supervisory role in elementary education
• Valid Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Licensure (MA DESE); Early Childhood (PRE-K-2) and Administrator preferred
• Knowledge of child development principles and best practices in early childhood and/or elementary education
• Experience working with budgets preferred
• Strong communication, organizational and leadership skills
• CPR and First Aid Certification, preferred
• Works well with others

REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction
JOB GOALS: The Pre-School Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the operations and instruction of the preschool program, including but not limited to, evaluations, budget, transportation and the Special Education (IEP’s) of all students. This role involves managing staff, ensuring compliance with educational standards, fostering a safe and nurturing learning environment, and engaging with parents, any and all stakeholders and the community at large.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum and activities that promote cognitive, social,
emotional, and physical development
2. Assess and evaluate the effectiveness of the curriculum and make adjustments as needed
3. Hire, train and evaluate all pre-school teachers and support staff
4. Support principals and staff all necessary programs
5. Foster a collaborative and supportive work environment that promotes continuous learning and growth
6. Conduct regular performance evaluations and work with the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and
Instruction to provide professional development opportunities
7. Ensure the preschool program complies with local, state, and federal regulations
8. Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized education plans and programs (IEPs) for preschool
children with special needs
9. Collaborate with teachers, therapists and support staff to ensure that IEP goals are effectively addressed in
the classroom
10. Design and implement strategies to promote inclusion and accommodate diverse learning needs within
the preschool setting
11. Ensure compliance with federal, state and local regulations governing special education services in
preschool settings
12. Maintain a safe and healthy environment for children and staff, including regular safety inspections
13. Foster positive relationships with parents through regular communication, meetings and events that
support the child’s educational needs
14. Collaborate with community organizations to enhance program resources and support
15. Manage the preschool budget and resources effectively and collectively in collaboration with the
Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations
16. Maintain accurate records related to enrollment, attendance and child progress, assessment results and
service delivery in accordance with legal and local requirements
17. Commitment to promoting a nurturing and stimulating learning environment that fosters children’s
cognitive, social and emotional development
18. Coordinate with regulatory agencies, parents and other stakeholders to address compliance issues and
resolve concerns
19. Provide training and ongoing support to preschool staff on best practices in special education, behavior
management, and inclusion strategies in collaboration with the Director of Special Education
20. Observe and assess children’s developmental milestones and address any concerns
21. Provide guidance and support to parents regarding child development and behavior
22. Occasional evening or weekend hours may be necessary for meetings or events
23. Ability to articulate clear goals, objectives and timelines for strategic initiatives
24. Familiarity with the challenges and opportunities inherent in educational environments, including
budget constraints and regulatory requirements
25. Conduct comprehensive data collection and analysis to inform programmatic decisions and funding
proposals
26. Collaborate with district/school administrators and early education professionals to plan and implement
effective programs
27. Performance of such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as may from time to time be
assigned by the Superintendent or his designee
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
• Non-union, independent contract
• Period of Employment: Twelve-month (12) work year
• Salary and benefits in accordance with negotiated contract
EVALUATION:
• Performance of this position will be evaluated annually in accordance with procedures established by the
School Committee
