Job Overview
This is a headcount add at a top law firm. You will oversee the entire Litigation Practice and work closely with the Managing Partner to drive efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the finance and people teams to manage budgets and forecast resource needs.
- Support billing processes by ensuring proper tracking of time.
- Use data to programmatically monitor and follow up on time tracking compliance.
- Collaborate with Marketing & Business development team to support the management of business development expenditure.
- Work with recruiting team to implement onboarding and integration plans for new lawyers.
- Act as point of contact for Practice Group Leaders and Partners on onboarding and integration
- Provide regular data and analysis to Managing Director to support strategic decision making.
- Work with Managing Director, Practice Group Leaders, and other stakeholders to understand current and future workforce needs.
- Work with Managing Director and Practice Group Leaders to balance workloads and review hours across their groups, including by making recommendations to the Managing Director based on analysis of utilization metrics.
- Use data to assess resource capacity and staffing needs, and provide recommendations to Managing Director and Practice Group Leaders.
- Ensure optimal allocation of resources; assign associates to matters, considering skill and experience requirement as well as learning opportunities.
- Work with functional areas and stakeholders across the Firm to successfully implement and manage change initiatives within the department, including the adoption of new technologies and processes.
- Plan and facilitate departmental and practice group meetings, including managing agendas, briefing speakers, and managing invitee lists.
- Draft communications for Managing Directors as needed.
- Liaise with other functional teams on actions and communications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required (JD advantageous but not required).
- Minimum of five years’ experience in practice management at a law firm.
- Experience working with a litigation practice group advantageous.
- Top class data analysis skills, and aptitude to quickly learn and utilize new systems.
- A problem solving and collaborative mindset.
- An innovative and change-orientated focus, with a constant eye on continual improvement.
- A top class communicator with excellent relationship building skills at all levels.
- Strong organizational skills with ability to meet multiple and fast paced deadlines.
Salary : $150,000 - $215,000
