The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our Information Services (IS) team, focusing on supporting our IS Business Partners with investment planning and developing proposals and business cases for new technology projects and initiatives. The Business Analyst will work closely with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, analyze data, and present compelling business cases to secure funding and resources for IS projects that support our Natural Gas Business Unit.
What You'll Do
- Collaborate with IS teams and key business stakeholders to understand their technology needs, challenges, and strategic objectives
- Gather and analyze business requirements, user needs, and existing IS capabilities to identify opportunities for technology-driven improvements
- Develop comprehensive business cases and proposals for new IS projects, including detailed cost-benefit analyses, risk assessments, and current state analysis
- Support the IS investment planning and budgeting process
- Facilitate workshops and meetings to elicit requirements, validate solutions, and gain stakeholder buy-in for IS initiatives
- Effectively communicate complex technical and financial information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field
- 3-5 years of experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in an IT or technology-focused environment
- Strong understanding of business analysis techniques, including requirements gathering, process modeling, and data analysis
- Proficient in financial analysis, cost-benefit modeling, and return on investment (ROI) calculations
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical information for non-technical stakeholders
- Proven track record of successfully developing and presenting business cases and project proposals
- Familiarity with Agile and traditional project management methodologies
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and navigate organizational dynamics
- Proficient in using business analysis tools, such as spreadsheets, visualization software, and project management applications
- Experience working in the Energy sector or with IT-focused organizations
- Knowledge of IT investment planning frameworks and best practices
- Certification in business analysis, such as Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) or Certified Business Analysis Practitioner (CBAP)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex business challenges
- Fluency in Spanish is considered an asset
