The Onsite IT Support Specialist will be responsible for maintaining and supporting IT infrastructure, including servers, desktops, networks, and specialized applications. This role ensures the smooth operation of IT systems across multiple locations, provides user support, and implements security measures to safeguard data and systems. The specialist will be the primary point of contact for IT-related issues and will work closely with various departments, including administration, public works, the police department, and the golf course.
Key ResponsibilitiesServer & Network Administration
- Manage and maintain network equipment, including firewalls, switches, routers, and security devices.
- Provide server administration, including application, database, and web services.
- Perform regular system updates, patches, and performance monitoring.
- Ensure the availability, security, and reliability of IT systems and network infrastructure.
- Maintain and troubleshoot video storage and police-specific applications, including Motorola/Spillman records management system.
- Support Caselle Connect financial software and other specialized applications as they relate to servers and associated hardware.
Desktop & End-User Support
- Install and configure PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals, and software.
- Diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues for end-users.
- Assist with email setup and management, including Microsoft 365 accounts.
- Provide basic training and technical guidance to employees as needed.
- Maintain virus detection and security software across all computers.
Security & Backup Management
- Perform periodic security audits and vulnerability assessments.
- Maintain and update backup and disaster recovery procedures.
- Respond to and mitigate cybersecurity incidents and potential data breaches.
Strategic IT Planning & Implementation
- Advise on future IT infrastructure needs and software acquisitions.
- Assist with the planning and implementation of major IT projects, such as network upgrades and provider transitions.
- Document IT policies, procedures, and system configurations.
Availability & Response
- Provide IT support during normal business hours (Monday–Thursday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM; Friday: 8:00 AM–3:00 PM).
- Respond to critical IT issues, including police department requests, within one (1) hour as needed.
- Support emergency IT needs outside of regular business hours when required.
Qualifications & ExperienceRequired:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
- Minimum 3 years of experience in IT support, network administration, or systems administration.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server environments and Microsoft 365 administration.
- Experience with network troubleshooting, including firewalls, switches, and routers.
- Familiarity with enterprise backup solutions and cybersecurity best practices.
- Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues efficiently.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work with non-technical users.
Preferred:
- Experience supporting municipal or government IT environments.
- Familiarity with Caselle Connect financial software.
- Experience with Motorola/Spillman records management system.
- Certifications such as CompTIA Network , Security , or Microsoft certifications.
- Experience supporting point-of-sale systems, particularly for golf courses.
