Job Description:
As an Entry-Level Transportation Traffic Engineer, you will support our project teams by performing analyses, preparing design drawings, and assisting with project planning and development. This is a full-time, in-office position based in our Princeton, New Jersey office. You may also be required to work part-time at client offices, depending on project needs. You will be responsible for performing traffic data collection, data reduction, engineering analyses, and preparing design drawings using knowledge of general engineering principles and practices to interpret, organize, execute, and coordinate assignments with limited supervision. Project roles and responsibilities require performance of various design and study related traffic engineering tasks. This role offers an excellent opportunity to grow professionally while working on diverse transportation projects under the guidance of experienced engineers.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
· Perform engineering design on projects under the guidance of a Professional Engineer.
· Perform data reduction and analysis.
· Prepare Traffic Signing, Striping & Pavement Marking design plans.
· Prepare MOT, TMP and Detour Plans for design projects.
· Perform traffic data collection and deploy traffic data collection equipment.
· Perform traffic analysis, modeling, and timing optimization.
· Prepare traffic signal, signing, striping and electrical design plans.
· Prepare Intelligent Transportation Systems design plans.
· Monitoring various traffic signal systems, adaptive traffic signal systems, detection systems, vehicle probe data, and other systems/platforms related to traffic signal performance.
· Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and construction.
Required Qualifications:
· BSCE or MS degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from ABET accredited engineering program.
· Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills
· Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
· Experience in Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint
· 0 to 3 years of design experience in the transportation field.
· Valid Driver’s License.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience in Computer Aided Design (CAD) (i.e. MicroStation, AutoCAD)
· Familiarity with traffic analysis and design software (e.g., Synchro, HCS, AutoCAD)
· Internship experience in transportation engineering or related field
· EIT certification or progress toward licensure
