Software Engineer [PPG]

TekFive is seeking a Jr. Software Engineer to join our VA Office of Connected Care (OCC) Platform, Pipeline, and Gateway (PPG) team. The OCC brings VA digital technology to Veterans and health care professionals, extending access to care beyond the traditional office visit. In this role, you will join a team that drives automation, security and reliability in our clients' software delivery processes. The position offers the chance to tackle diverse technical challenges and contribute significantly to the success of OCC. Responsibilities

• Implement new features and fix defects on the pipeline platform. This includes the web application and libraries used by other teams to integrate with the platform.

• Work with application teams integrating with the platform.

• Research and evaluate new technical approaches and tools, sharing insights with both internal teams and external stakeholders.

• Develop custom solutions for the client to automate processes and workflows.

1. Requirements

   • A Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Mathematics, or a related field and 1 to 6 years of experience in software development.

   • Understanding of web application and service fundamentals.

   • Proficiency in oral and written communication including the ability to articulate technical

     concepts to diverse audiences.

   • Experience using one or more of the following programming languages: Java,

     JavaScript, Go, C#, .NET, Ruby, or Python.

   • Basic understanding and experience using Git.

   • Able to work independently while interacting with other remote team members

     throughout the day via Slack, email, and conferencing.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with the Kotlin programming language.

• Experience in building, maintaining, and optimizing CI/CD pipelines using tools like

  Jenkins, GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.

• Experience with container-related technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

• Experience with infrastructure provisioning and configuration management tools like

  Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible.

• Experience with Model Language (ML) or Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as

  CUDA, PyTorch, MLflow, Databricks, AWS SageMaker, or AzureML.

• Experience working with SQL databases such as Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL or

  MongoDB.

• Experience delivering software within an Agile framework.

• Experience with Atlassian tools such as Bitbucket, Jira, and Confluence

Required License or Certification

Capable of passing a federal background investigation for the position of public trust and/or able to obtain a security clearance. This is a firm requirement.
