Primary Function:
Manages general personnel duties including labor relations, wage and benefit programs, human resources, safety and other applicable personnel policies.
Duties include:
- Represents the Company in Union grievances, arbitrations and negotiations. Works with Value Stream Managers and all Plant Supervisors in the administration of the union contract and other labor relation policies consistent with Corporate Policies.
- Recruits, screens, and recommends personnel as required to meet the immediate personnel requirements of the plant and assists management personnel in planning organizational development for long term needs.
- Maintains current evaluations of salaried positions in the Blacksburg plant, directs the review and adjustment of salaries within the established compensation system and recommends timely revisions of salary ranges.
- Develops, interprets, and disseminates information regarding plant and company personnel policies and maintains a consistent application of them with the purpose of maintaining community and employee relations.
- Maintains liaison with the Manager of Employee Relations.
- Supervisors the administration of existing employee fringe benefit programs and makes recommendation for suitable changes and additions.
- Serves as process owner of the Quality Management System core process “Labor Resources”.
- Assists Safety Coordinator in developing and implementing safety policies and programs within Corporate guidelines to assure a safe working environment.
- Manages a department by developing and maintaining budgets, setting goals and objectives, determining actions within policies required to meet goals, determined personnel needs and taking action to meet those needs, and appraising the performance of the department and employees.
- Direct and supports plantwide training needs for all plant personnel.
- Position has the responsibility and authority for quality commensurate with the accountabilities of the job description.
- Partners with Safety Coordinator to improve safety performance and reduce workers compensation costs.
Requirements:
Education: Bachelor’s degree
Experience: 3-5 years manufacturing experience with two years within the personnel function.
