What are the responsibilities and job description for the Compliance Director – Commission on Continuing Legal Education position at Tennessee State Courts?
The Tennessee Commission on Continuing Legal Education is seeking applicants for the position of Compliance Director. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Compliance T Director is responsible for overseeing annual continuing legal education compliance for Tennessee licensed attorneys. This requires administrative, managerial, technical, and supervisory work of moderate difficulty. The Compliance Director follows organizational policies and procedures and recommends new ones while carrying out the agency's focus on communication, predictability, attorney compliance, and customer service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor attorney CLE attendance and compliance under Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 21.
- Analyze complex situations and develop solutions to improve communication and efficiency.
- Consult with, employ, and manage vendor services, technology, and national trade group relations for continuous process improvement.
- Provide superior service to attorneys, providers, the Commission, and other agencies.
- Investigate and analyze attorney requests for Exceptional Relief and present thoughtful recommendations to the Commission.
- Appropriately utilize Commission staff and resources, employing established operating procedures.
- Maintain and improve agency database of attorney records, reports, and other files.
- Inform attorneys of requirements and assist attorneys seeking to establish or re-establish compliance.
- Collaborate with other Court agencies regarding attorney status.
- Draft rules and other legal documents.
- Assist Executive Director as needed with short- and long-term projects as well as day-to-day operations.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and/or Experience:
- Law degree and licensed Tennessee attorney
- Minimum of five years of work experience
- Administrative or management experience
- Government or similar regulatory experience a plus
Knowledge:
- Knowledge and understanding of Tenn. Sup. Ct. R. 21
- Database use and management
