LOCATION: This role is a traveling position. You may work on various project sites across the US. Per diem will be provided for those willing to travel and work onsite.
ABOUT THE JOB
The Tepa Companies are seeking a Painter I under the direction of a qualified Site Foreman, Painter III, or Painter II, to assist with the performance of tasks involving surface preparation and the application of industrial coatings safely and efficiently to support commercial and government services for Tepa’s Coatings & Linings Service Team and meet or exceed the required quality, safety, and profitability goals.
Job Functions:
- Assist with tasks involving surface preparation and application of industrial coatings to Above-ground Storage Tanks (AST) and other surfaces as applicable to projects within the Coatings & Linings Service Line, in a safe, productive manner paying attention to quality.
- Perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor for Tepa’s Coatings & Linings Service Line associated with painting and other industrial coating operation tasks for commercial and government services.
- Assist or provide support to activities including tending to and operating abrasive blast equipment, shoveling spent blast abrasive, and mixing coatings.
- Maintain a clean job site: pick up all tools and equipment and secure the job site each day to eliminate potential hazards.
- Material handling and storage.
- Load/unload trucks and haul/hoist materials.
- Participate with a direct supervisor in all planning operations as required.
- Respond quickly and effectively to changing site conditions. Assess change conditions and communicate them to direct supervisor.
- Bring any problems to the attention of the Trainer, Site Foreman, Safety Officer, Project Manager, or Human Resource Manager.
- Support the investigation of all safety and health incidents.
- Attend all required training courses as applicable.
- Keep an open line of communication with other Tepa’s staff on site for any aspects of task execution and completion
- Complete delegated tasks to support cost performance goals for assigned project work sites.
- Adhere to Tepa’s Safety and Health policies and procedures to prevent injuries and/or illnesses on assigned project work sites.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- High School Diploma/General Education Diploma (GED) or demonstrated proficiency in both oral and written communication with the fundamental knowledge of mathematics demonstrated by the ability to solve a variety of problems that can be modeled or solved by quantitative means
- 0-2 years of applicable hands-on experience performing blasting and painting activities on small and large multi-phased industrial coatings projects including internal and external tank coatings experience
- Ability to travel to out-of-state work locations for extended periods
- Familiar with general construction including OSHA requirements
- Ability to learn and implement skills related to surface preparation, blasting, and air spraying prior to the application of industrial coatings
- Ability to learn and implement accepted coating methods, and techniques such as mixing and application of paints and coatings
- Proficient in manual labor associated with industrial coatings, construction trades, crafts, and maintenance and repair tasks
- Some knowledge of first aid and applicable safety precautions
- Above average oral, written, and listening communication skills with full effectiveness in keeping others informed
- Ability to work independently and complete daily activities according to work schedule
- Ability to understand, follow, and transmit written and oral instruction
- Ability to meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Strong work ethic
