Description : SUMMARY
Terra-Gen is a growing responsible developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale wind, solar and battery energy storage facilities in California, New York, and Texas. Under the general direction of the Director, NERC Compliance, Regulatory Compliance Engineer, manages projects associated with Terra-Gen’s NERC compliance program to maintain compliance with all mandatory and enforceable NERC reliability standards for Operations and Planning. This includes, but is not limited to, providing technical engineer support to assigned business areas and external contractors as it relates to NERC Operations & Planning standards, ensuring appropriate stakeholders and subject matter experts implement the compliance tasks by assigned due dates, and providing support for development and implementation of internal controls for monitoring all NERC Operations & Planning compliance activities. The Regulatory Compliance Engineer will develop, implement, oversee, and report on the company-wide NERC Compliance programs. They will have direct responsibility implementing policies and procedures and actively support Terra-Gen’s project managers, operations and maintenance teams, and Site Mangers.
The right person for this position is dependable, self-motivated, organized, able to collaborate and communicate effectively in a team environment, take direction and complete tasks in a thorough and efficient manner. They require general supervision to successfully develop, implement, drive, and support all Terra-Gen reliability and compliance programs for the renewable energy generation sector (solar, battery energy storage systems and wind).
This role is a full-time hybrid position, working primarily remotely (from home) and making periodic trips to facilities in Southern California (Mojave, Los Angeles, San Bernardino, Riverside County). Over time, there could be additional projects in New York or Texas with periodic travel required to these locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Other duties may be assigned as needed)
- Provide technical and engineering leadership oversight of Terra-Gen’s regulatory compliance programs for owner and operator standards enforced by regulatory entities such as NERC, WECC, CAISO, CUCT, ERCOT, PUCT, and Texas RE
- Responsible for managing compliance investigations, documenting root cause analysis, submitting self-reports, and creating mitigation plans
- Manage protection system inventory / maintenance / testing tracking systems for the NERC registered TGOC projects (Primarily with HV Manager).
- Maintain logs and records of required protection system maintenance and testing activities.
- Maintain records and reports of required Gen-tie line inspections and Vegetation Management efforts.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, electric engineering teams, and the Remote Operating Center personnel to ensure strong reliability compliance policies and controls to comply with applicable requirements.
- Assemble, analyze and submit responses to compliance monitoring activities such as self-certifications, data submittals, and evidence for NERC compliance audits and potential noncompliance self-reports.
- Develop and implement an internal control program to detect, correct and prevent noncompliance and ensure compliance deadlines are met
- Attend industry meetings and workshops to monitor the development of new and revised NERC standards and requirements and other reliability compliance requirements.
- Perform internal compliance audits and investigations for NERC Operations and Planning policies and procedures
- Provide training for operations and maintenance personnel on NERC and regional standards and requirements.
- Advise and collaborate with project managers and construction site managers to ensure all potential risk and reliability compliance issues are effectively managed and addressed.
- Manage multiple assignments including projects, tasks, internal deadlines and compliance deadlines.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned by Director NERC Compliance.
- Role is expected to have periodic overnight travel to job sites and meetings.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
EDUCATION and / or EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE –
Bachelor’s degree preferably in Electrical Engineering, or other education related to power system delivery, generation, renewable energy, and transmission; with 5-10 years of operational and management experience with renewable power generation facilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

The posted compensation is the range that we in good faith anticipate relying on when setting wages for this position. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in California. This salary range may also be modified in the future, depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location.
