Terrain Civil is a leading Small Woman Owned DBE supplier of infrastructure construction materials, including HDPE, CMP, SDR 35, SCH 40 Pipe, geotextile geogrids, water quality detention systems, erosion control supplies, and much more. Terrain Civil delivers innovative, effective and timely products and solutions to heavy civil, infrastructure, and site construction projects in the communities that we serve.
Your Opportunity
This is a full-time on-site role in Construction Material Sales based in Nashville, TN. This career-oriented position will work closely with our key distributors' sales reps while interacting face to face, on the phone and through email with site and infrastructure contractors. The successful professional candidate will be responsible for basic estimating material lists and selling site construction materials to contractors, engineering firms, and government agencies, commercial and residential landscapers, among others. They will also be responsible for developing new business, managing existing accounts, and ensuring customer satisfaction. This is an entry level position that, when proven, can lead to advancement and growth such as Inside / Outside Sales Rep and Estimating positions.
Your Responsibilities
- Generate sales revenue and profit
- Generate qualified leads through networking
- Maintain existing clientele through relationship building
- Provide technical support to clients on the use of our materials
- Meet sales targets and build upon them
- Maintain client records
Your Skills and Qualifications
3 years of experience in construction materials sales, or related industries
Proven track record of exceeding sales targets and developing new business
Experience selling to contractors, engineering firms, and government agencies, among others
Self-starter, requires little supervision, ability to work independently
Perform plan takeoffs for storm, sanitary, water, utilities, erosion control and other product categories (willing to teach)
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with customers
Ability to multitask under pressure and real world deadlines
Ability to research new products and concepts
Ability to prepare and submit quotes and proposals
Cold calling on new and existing customers
Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team, and between owners and managers
Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or a related field is preferred but not required with proven experience
The ideal candidate for this role should have proven experience in construction sales, general knowledge of construction estimating, basic understanding of project management concepts, deep understanding of research methodology, ability to multi task, data analysis and estimation metrics, be comfortable with numbers and technology, have excellent knowledge of software like Excel, Outlook, Planswift and / or others, great attention to detail, excellent communication and negotiating abilities, be well organized, reliable, punctual and personable.
