What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operations Manager, Industrial Storage Projects position at Tesla Motors?
The Operations Manager, Industrial Storage Projects will facilitate and manage all day-to-day operations of large-scale battery storage projects owned by Tesla Energy. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in the Operation and Maintenance of electrical generation and renewable assets and strong knowledge of electrical substation equipment (Low to High voltage electrical distribution, transformers, switchgear, etc.). This person will be responsible for coordination of both unscheduled and scheduled maintenance with internal and external service providers and operational partners while optimizing efficiency and uptime. They will also support the compliance audits and submissions required by relevant regulatory bodies.
Responsibilities
- Develops and administers operating procedures for O&M of utility scale battery storage facilities. Perform regular reviews and updates to operating procedures
- Provide guidance on real time and emergent operational issues and drive prompt resolutions
- Serve as the technical operations subject matter expert for Tesla operated utility scale battery storage facilities and regularly provide operational updates, guidance, and communicate risks to leadership and other stakeholders
- Manage planned and emergent O&M outages and work performed by Tesla and sub-contractors. Review maintenance reports and drive corrective actions
- Schedule and coordinate generation outages between internal and external stakeholders
- Participate in compliance reporting including NERC, FERC, ERCOT, RTO as well as local jurisdiction such as city and county
- Identify plant improvement projects and act as a Project Manager for the execution of approved projects
