What Will You Be Doing?
The Manager of Technical Services provides technical assistance to Line Maintenance, Return Overnight (RON) Maintenance and Heavy Check Maintenance personnel and coordinates with Maintenance Control (MCC) and Records and Engineering in monitoring fleet aircraft histories for chronic problems. The Manager of Technical Services identifies trends by analyzing pilot reports daily, paying attention to repeat discrepancies, and interfaces with MCC for action to be taken for repair of repeat discrepancies.
Essential Functions
Manage, monitor and coordinate SMS activities as directed. These duties include but are not limited to:
- Coordinate the development, implementation, maintenance, and integration of the SMS throughout Frontier.
- Identify hazards and safety risk assessments including change management.
- Ensure effectiveness of safety risk control.
- Promote safety and maintain a high degree of integrity by demonstrating responsibility for situational response using workplace norms.
- Advise the accountable executive on the performance of the SMS and on any need for improvement.
- Accountable for achieving safety performance relative to job tasks and maintaining a continuous high degree of engagement during and after normal work hours.
- Manage risk acceptable level: blue or lower as defined by Frontier’s company risk matrix.
- Manage the daily activities of technical services, ensuring continual safe aircraft for scheduled service.
- Develop the knowledge, skills, capabilities, capacities, proficiencies, and workflows best practices of self and assigned personnel to drive business results.
- Develop and aggregate broad knowledge of all aircraft systems, equipment, manufacturers, suppliers, stations, Technical Operations, as well as the rest of Frontier operational teams and how these inputs/ outputs affect system performance and reliability.
- Participate in strategic planning and lead the implementation of long-term objectives.
- Must demonstrate strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills including, but not limited to listening, non-verbal, questioning, clarity, conciseness, empathy, and trust building.
- Efficiently identify root causes and implement mitigating actions for any inspection findings or CARs for assigned areas.
- Manage technical assistance and guidance to Line Maintenance, RON Maintenance, and Heavy Check Maintenance personnel and detail required maintenance action to repair aircraft discrepancies.
- Create and administer work schedules, workflows, and work product for Technical Services Specialists according to the operational needs of the airline and department head guidance.
- Monitor pilot reports and significant maintenance findings on the fleet.
- Ensure aircraft chronic or complex systems discrepancies have customized and detailed repair instructions issued in a timely manner.
- Coordinate with MCC and Maintenance Planning for timely maintenance action and set the appropriate priority as required for chronic/repeat aircraft discrepancies.
- Generate follow-up work packages, including detailed troubleshooting work scopes (TSWS) to assist with airframe, powerplant, and system troubleshooting and repair actions to ensure on time performance and airworthiness status of equipment.
- Assist in the training of maintenance personnel as required by senior management.
- Assist in identifying and make recommendations on tooling and test equipment.
- As requested, or required by MCC or Sr. Maintenance authority, support MX personnel road trips including the deployment of Technical Services Specialists as technical leaders and crew chiefs for remotely located OOS aircraft.
- Provide Airframe, Powerplant, and Systems Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support to Maintenance Control in support of outstation maintenance, extended out-of-service, and other skills proficiency needs.
- Provide focus on aircraft systems and components showing undesirable trends using CASS, reliability, and vendor tear-down/ rogue component reports
- Serve as a key member of the airline CAS Board.
- Maintain and update all departmental manuals.
- Make FMIS, Sabre, and ERRP entries as required.
- D Maintain familiarization with the training requirements necessary as defined in the GMM 100: Maintenance Training Program and ensure training is current prior to performing the functions and tasks of this position.

- Authority to stop or ground aircraft when deemed necessary
Qualifications
- FAA-certificated mechanic with Airframe and Powerplant ratings required
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Line and/or Heavy Maintenance/ Modifications Experience, or 2 years Line and/or Heavy Maintenance experience with 2 years of Avionics/ Systems experience (technical troubleshooting) required
- 3 years of experience as a Technical Service Specialist, Avionics/ Powerplant/ Systems Engineering or similar required
- 3 years relevant air carrier management experience preferred
- College degree - preferred
- FCC Radio license - preferred
- Previous factory systems, avionics training, and management experience - preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with focus on applied experience and technical data driven solutions
