Job Summary:

An Assistant Superintendent at Tester Construction Group will work with the Superintendent to ensure the successful execution of assigned construction projects, ensuring projects meet time, budget, and quality expectations. The Asst. Superintendent reports directly to their assigned Superintendent. In the absence of a “Manager”, the Assistant will act in the capacity of a Superintendent (see role). The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for the overall success of their assigned tasks, project activities, and ensures compliance with company procedures, standard operating procedures, and industry regulations while fostering a safe and efficient work environment. The Assistant Superintendent will be required to perform tasks related to on-site coordination for all phases of construction projects, including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are being strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. Assistant Superintendent shall be responsible, with the Superintendent, for scheduling, inspections, quality control, and job site safety.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Project Execution:

  • Support the Superintendent to ensure construction projects are executed in alignment with the company's operational goals, timelines, and budgetary constraints.
  • Deliver the Superintendent’s strategy to successfully execute assigned projects. Responsible for maintaining strategy and addressing issues.
  • Support the Superintendent in the planning, scheduling, and delivery of construction projects. Perform the tasks as necessary to maintain project goals.
  • Perform tasks with the Superintendent relating to project schedules, ensuring alignment with overall company and project objectives.
  • Ensure that subcontractors adhere to quality expectations, ensuring alignment with client expectations and overall company objectives. Perform tasks as necessary.

  • Team Leadership and Management:
  • Ensure you receive guidance and training from your manager to effectively and properly perform your job.
  • Ensure you utilize vendors for insight and education.
  • Voice opinion/suggestions on matters of efficiency, seek constant improvement.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance for vendors and resolve technical or operational challenges with the Superintendent.
  • Ensure vendors are aligned with the company’s safety and performance standards.
  • Deliver Superintendent project goals to vendors.
  • Field concerns and questions from all project vendors and staff, work to divert them from reaching the Project Manager. Address unresolvable issues with Superintendent when needed.
  • Ensure assigned TCG Labor and vendors are performing all their duties. Responsible for their proper execution of said parties.

  • Operational Planning & Efficiency:
  • Full-time on-site representation and regular inspections to ensure we are maintaining project goals – schedule, budget, and quality, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Utilize, implement and execute their roles within the overall company’s Standard Operating Procedures and ensure you utilize and drill down use of software/hardware required by the company.
  • Ensure that equipment, labor, and materials are deployed effectively to maximize output and minimize delays.

  • Budget and Cost Control:
  • Perform work within preapproved subcontracts and purchase orders, work excluded from those contracts shall not be performed without prior approval from the Superintendent.
  • Review subcontracts and purchase orders and require vendors to perform all work included in contracts.
  • Identify areas for cost savings without compromising quality or project timelines.
  • Review change orders with Superintendet to ensure scope/cost match scope of work requirements.
  • Does not have the authority to spend budget funds without prior Project Manager approval.

  • Resource Allocation & Scheduling:
  • Address any shortages or resource constraints with Superintendent.
  • Plan, schedule and coordinate all vendors performing work or delivery materials to site under your supervision.
  • Collaborate with Superintendent on two/four week look aheads.
  • Regular milestone schedule updates alongside Superintendent.
  • Planning, scheduling and passing all city and state inspections alongside Superintendent.
  • Create and cultivate a collaborative work environment amongst the project team and vendors.

  • Risk Management & Problem Solving:
  • Identify and assess risks related to assigned tasks.
  • Develop strategies and resolve problems quickly and effectively to prevent disruptions.
  • Work closely with Superintendent to anticipate and proactively address any project challenges.
  • Utilize, maintain and/or manage use of Procore (or other project management software) to manage punchlists, daily logs, RFIs, etc…
  • This job description will perform these task.

  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure staff and vendors adhere to safety standards and legal regulations, promoting a strong safety culture.
  • Conduct regular site visits and inspections to ensure compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and company-specific safety policies.

  • Client Relations:
  • Become key point of contact for vendors in matters relating to onsite issues, constructability, etc….
  • Be key point of contact for vendors assigned.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with vendors in order to address concerns, ensuring overall satisfaction, and maintain the relationships.
  • Work collaboratively with TCG team and vendors to ensure that client requirements and expectations are clearly communicated and met.
  • Create collaborative relationships between consultants, TCG and vendors.
  • Attend OAC meetings, agendas and meeting minutes as required. Provide input relating to schedule, quality and constructability as required.
  • Always be on the offensive rather than defensive with vendors. Think and plan for problems before recognized by the vendors.

  • Vendor & Subcontractor Management:
  • Responsible for all planning and execution of scheduling on-site work for assigned vendors and/or tasks.
  • Responsible for resolving vendor issue/concerns on the site.
  • Quarterback coordination and safety meetings are being held with assigned vendors.
  • Collaborate with the project management staff to source and manage subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring materials and services meet project standards and timelines.
  • Maintain strong relationships with vendors to resolve any financial issues, and delivery or quality issues promptly.

  • Quality Control:
  • Ensure you and your vendors are adhering to quality assurance and control procedures on assigned projects to ensure work meets company standards and client specifications.
  • Develop, maintain and/or manage use of regular punchlists, RFIs, and daily logs.
  • Develop, maintain and/or manage construction schedules and two week look aheads.
  • Conduct regular inspections to ensure the integrity of construction work and directly address any deficiencies.
  • Ensure project handover meets or exceeds client expectations in terms of quality, functionality, and aesthetic standards. This position will be responsible for the overall success and will be required to perform the tasks in the absence of staff or failure of their staff to ensure successful completion of the projects.
  • Management of warranty from past projects with the Project Manager/Superintendent. Coordinating coverage and getting trades to perform warranty work.
  • Overall execution and management of all punchlists.

  • Reporting and Communication:
  • Maintain open communication with Superintendents and Project Management Team.
  • Provide regular reports to Superintendent on project performance, operational challenges, and strategies for improvement.
  • Attend regular team meetings to coordinate project goals, status updates, and any operational adjustments.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of project progress, scheduling, punchlists, inspections and quality control.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
